[Archive] Chaos Dwarfs converted from Skaven Stormvermin & Chaos Warriors

Rhimlock:

I really like the old style of Chaos Dwarves from 2nd and 3rd editions so i tried to find a way to get that kind of style for my Conversions.

Here’s how it turned out:

Take the body of a Stormvermin and cut of the legs at the knees.

Helmet and Arms are straight from the Chaos-Warriors. The elbow joints fit really nicely into the sockets for the skaven arms, but the helmet needs some cutting.

Boots are simply cut from sprue. Beards are stright forward (took me some time to figure out, what kind i liked the most).

What do you guys think?

tjub:

Wow, dont think Ive seen this conversion before. Cool concept and good conversions, well done!

Admiral:

Nice work, and good to see them painted! Stumbled across this during the image salvage:

Rhimlock:

Wow, totally forgot I posted those (a long time ago …).

I redid the beards since then, because I wasn’t really happy with those beards.

Afterwards I couldn’t find a color scheme that I really liked, so they started collecting dust.

Pappa Midnight:

Very nice conversions. It’s amazing the different ways that different people come up with ways of making their own CDs.

Carcearion:

Wow! An excellent conversion! Well done! They just drop with 3rd ed style!

Do you have any plans on doing some elites/heroes using chaos knight helms? (Those chaos knight helms are sooooo cool).

I haven't planned any elites yet, but I started converting the Skaven-Warlord from the IoB-box with a chaos knight helmet.

Right now, I'm still busy convertering these guys:

And nearly finished these:

Should I switch over to "Army Blogs"?

Abecedar:

Love your work.

And definitely create an army Blog.

Furious241:

Dang man those are really really cool. Love those… flamers? What are you using those guys as, for what system?

Admiral:

Indeed, great work! Your style is reminiscent of 3rd edition. Not anything like identical, of course, but I immediately come to think of oldhammer CDs when seeing those conversions. Good choice of bitz and solid paintjobs.

Xander:

Very cool conversions. Nicely painted as well.

Jackswift:

Have to say that you really called to the style well. These immediately bring to mind those whimsical early edition chaos dwarves with the massive helmets gangly horns and brutish weapons. Even the posing captures it well. Nicely done!

Willmark:

Very excellent conversions.

If I were starting to create my own chaos dwarf force I’d give serious consideration to making my chaos dwarf units just like this.

Great visual, mini parts are not hard to come by and very characterful.

tjub:

Agree with everybody above! Well done.

I somewhat agree, the influence is there. What seperates itself from the pack as it were is the painting style. Old schoolish minis with a cleaner, more modern style of painting.

Ghrask Dragh:

Oooooo they turned out bloody lovey!

Nice work :hat off

Threadbare:

These guys are so cool. Like others have said the paint scheme looks great. Can’t wait to see more.

The only thing I would suggest is to trim the weapon shaft down for guys that use it as a one handed wpn. It looks great the way it is for the two handed weapons tho.

Just liked the conversion, I don't really plan how to use them.
I will propably use them as fillers for Fireglaives oder as blunderbusses in Mordheim.
