Thanks for another great read Carandini, I found your take on the chaos dwarfs to be interesting, I think you captured their feel very well while introducing new elements. Oddly the slavemaster with the blunderbuss was my favorite character, closely followed by the backstabbing hobgoblin, their evil deviousness was very appealing. You injected a lot of character into your secondary and background characters which is something I’ve always enjoyed in your books.
Also, the final showdown with the antagonist at the end of the book was fantastic, really liked that bit.
I picked up a copy of the Wulfrik novel after seeing the title of this topic. I have used Wulfrik in my WoC army and I like the character so I’m really looking forward to the read, especially with the added bonus of the chaos dwarfs. I hadn’t read this thread yet, and I must say I’m happily surprised to see the author on the site.
@ Carandini: I enjoyed Grey Seer and am looking forward to reading the second Thanquol novel soon. I’ll be eagerly awaiting the third installment too. I enjoy reading a story from the Skaven perspective as opposed to seeing them used solely as antagonists. Grey Seer reminded me of Skavenslayer which was the first Warhammer novel I read. It’s great to see an author bring the Skaven characters to life. Keep up the tremendous work!
I’ll have to see about getting the slavemaster with the blunderbuss back for a prequel appearance. Maybe in a Brunner or Thanquol story. He seems to have been a big hit around here.
I really enjoyed using Wulfrik. Of all the new Chaos characters introduced in the latest army book, I found him the most dramatically appealing (followed closely by Festus and Vilitch the Curseling - indeed, I could see doing a very Hammer Horror type story with Festus). I hope you’ll enjoy my interpretation of Wulfrik and his ship the Seafang.
Currently I’m a bit behind on Thanquol III, but it is being written, so there will be more skaven sneakiness in the near future.

a chaos dwarf with a blunderbuss followed by a sneakygit?
I’m about 1/3rd of the way through the book… it’s my first Warhammer book and it’s great fun. Can’t wait to read the rest on the flight home later tonight. I’ll certainly be adapting some of my future army around some of the themes and design concepts introduced in the book too.
I highly recommend the book to the CDO community, the Dawi’Zharr aren’t just a single chapter… they’re a central component in the story it seems like!!
On a non-CD note, I’m not one for pirate stories, but this didn’t feel like it, and the Seafang was a great mechanic… may need something similar for my Daemonic Dawi’Zharr Dirigible

i cant remember that

SPOILERS ALERT---
It was right after they descend down into the slave pits. The pit lord was armed with a blunderbuss. Although his hobgoblin guards weren't specifically called sneaky gits when you read that section they are definitely meant to be as they have an uncanny ability to sneak around foes to stab them in the back ;)

Sometimes game terms just don’t work in the narrative. ‘Sneaky Git’ is obviously what orcs and other hobgoblins call them (and the Dawi Zharr probably just call them ‘that fething lazy grot-stabber’). similar to how, obviously, neither the Norscans nor the Dawi Zharr themselves would use the term ‘Chaos Dwarfs’. That’s obviously a name applied by more ‘enlightened’ outsiders.
