Unfortunately I plan on painting them as Nurgle, which will make my life a lot more tricky.Well, Nurgle will be very difficult imho. But I think you should use the way you've painted your mounted Nurgle Champion. Looking forward to see'em painted! :cheers

I’ve been looking over my new Chaos plastics with zeal. 
I am trying to come up with an effective list that I like both strategically and flavourfully. It’s proving most difficult.
GW seems to have done good work for Chaos this time around, except the oversight of the dreadful Trolls and Ogres. Ironguts make better Chaos Ogres, and the classic converted River Trolls to Chaos Trolls with he big metal slats have always been my favourite Chaos Trolls…

I just used Rackham Wolfen for my Chaos Ogres. They look a lot better than the GW equivalent.

Painting nurgle colored troops isn’t as tricky as it seems. The biggest problem people run into is that they try to paint just in shades of green and it ends up not looking right. If you mix red paint with the greens it looks alot better. That is because red and green are complimentary colors. Also try using small amounts blue and purple.
You have to figure that anything nurgle is never green to start with. Nurgle decays and rots flesh, so start with the corected color that a non rotten mini would be then decay it by adding very small amounts of green, red, purple and blue. Hope that helps and happy painting.

The big exception to that is the Knights which have millions of pieces. Fortunately, I sold my Knights so I don't have to worry about the inevitable brain aneurism that would result from trying to figure out how they go together.
