Loki:
Great use of the clan rats to make some awesome looking hobgoblins
CheTralfara:
So here is my 25-man 90% modeled Chaos Dwarf Warriors with HW & Shields… (these models are not totally finished)
Half of the unit consists of models converted from BFSP warriors (which includes the command), while the other half are made from the standard Dwarf Warriors box set…
Chaos Dwarf Warriors Command (made from BFSP)
Here you see a finished (painted!) Chaos Dwarf warrior (on the right) next to the Champion. The beards here are the first 2 beards I ever sculpted, and also the worst!

Here is the PIP Musician and a WIP of the Standard Bearer… Yep, there is fire coming out of the Tuba.
Chaos Dwarf Warriors (made from BFSP)

Wouldn’t be Chaos without 2 possessed/mutated Chaos Dwarfs for the win!
Chaos Dwarf Warriors (made from Dwarf Warriors kit)

tjub:
The look really cool and twisted, love the “deamon sheilds” of the possessed!
Zanko:
Great stuff!
Especially the mutated ones with their daemon shields are awesome! :hat off
Also the skull helmets look very cool - notably from the standardbearer and the 2 ones at the right on the last pic! :cheers
:hashut
CheTralfara:
The masks on the final 2 are Necron heads!! haha.
Vash:
using necron heads as maskes is a great idea, it really fits in with the rest of the unit but is still different enough to notice them.
i also like your take on hobgoblins. the new skaven bodies really lend themselves well for goblinoid looks.
Dino:
Very nice looking chaos dwarf conversions. I really like how you’ve used the different looking skulls for their helmets. Nice and creative. Keep it up man.
Grimstonefire:
I’m not sure about the horns, but I’m really loving the necrons and skulls. Great stuff!
I think you will need to be careful what colour you paint fire, as it could look too similar to the red cloth/ armour.
I don’t know why, but your 2 muties have a very blanche like feel to them. Some of the masks might look good painted as bone.
CheTralfara:
I don’t know what Blanche means unfortunately? please enlighten me.
what’s wrong with the horns? I know the bloodletter horns on the champ are a little awkward positioned, but it was the best I could get them to line up and they look suitably chaos-y that way… the standard bearers horns/helmet needs some more greenstuff still. the rest of the horns come from the original dwarf warriors, and I was going for a “mini chaos warriors” look with the helmets, so I wanted to leave as many horns as possible… but obviously dwarfs need smaller horns (so not to get their axe tangled in them).
i might actually try the bone paintjob idea… hadn’t thought of that. I think I am at least going to paint all the horns in bone color.
m3lvin:
wonderful helmet designs!
love them,
skulls FTW! :mask

snowblizz:
I don't know what Blanche means unfortunately? please enlighten me.That should refer to John Blanche, long time painter/illustrator at GW and also their AD nowdays. He has a special style that is very recognizable in GW artwork. He tends to paint in a style reminiscent of Renaissance's painters. Or maybe it was Rembrant. Started with "R" anyway. Sketchy and lots of reds and browns.
CheTralfara
CheTralfara:
aha! i’ll take it as a compliment then!
astragoth:
what are the colours used for the hobgoblins(skin)?
Loki:
Great work on the CD s and great use of necron heads as masks very evil looking
Snotling:
Cool stuff Che. Converting the Skaven Slaves to Hobbos was a great idea, they are perfect with the small Nightgoblin heads. Okay, the colour sheme looks a little like Christmas for me, but I allways knew it… Santas helpers are no volunteers, as you see an the chains
The tuba is cool and with the mask the musician really looks like he blows his instrument in this moment. My musician has this fire, too, but he doesn’t blow the tuba, so it just burns a little. If he would it, it would look like yours ^^
Using the Necron masks is a good idea, they fit great and the Necron skulls look more than helmets as “real” skulls do. I like it very much :hat off
what unit will you convert after the warriors?
apocalypstia:
followed the rat to hobgob conversion thread to here and - wow! great stuffs. I have been playing these types of games for longer than i want to remember and necron heads never crossed my mind - course i dont see them often either so tis easy to forget about the wealth of potential out there - Excellent procurement and reuse idea. Nice touch to the chaos taint with those mutated ones. More inspirational tid bits to help fuel the furnaces and get back to my own dawi…
Kera foehunter:
Che love your style of cd love the great use of skulls
CheTralfara:
I am now going to show you a near-finished WIP of my first Immortal/Obsidian Gaurdsman…
He is made from West Wind Miniatures “Varans Iron Guard” pictured below…
You can get 20 of them for really cheap (less than a dollar a mini), and yes they come on 25mm bases… BUT rank up perfectly fine on 20mm. I did not buy the ugly command (going to convert command from troops!).
As you can see, I’ve made EXTENSIVE changes to this mini…
1. I cut off the head, 2. Shaved off Beard from arm (this can be hard, and some of the minis will require GS fixing of the arm), 3. Changed the axe to a OOP plastic Chaos Warrior Halberd (removed the halberd spike), 4. Placed OOP Chaos Warrior helmet for head (With horns cut/shaved smaller), 5. Greenstuffed a beard, 6. Greenstuffing dreadlocks hair coming from back of helmet (not finished yet, so the back is not pictured)
I find the old plastic Chaos Warrior helmets to be great proportions for Chaos Dwarfs (better than the new ones)…

@ astragoth The hobbo skin tones are goblin green, washed with gw green wash, touched-up with snot green & highlighted with something lighter (i forget)…
@ snotling It means a lot to know you like my work. I know it’s becoming cliche but of course your work was probably my biggest inspiration for this project and has definitely paved the way for a lot of us…
as for my next unit… I work on ALL of the units at one time… jumping form one to the other, all over the place, cuz of my short attention span (so there are a lot of started/half-finished units).
But I am dieing to show you guys my first Bull Centaur conversion! (very soon)
Zanko:
Great conversion!
This is really awesome - imo these guys will look (when painted) like original CD ones! :hat off
Go on dude - let us see a finished unit of them!
