[Archive] Children and Chaos Dwarfs

Nicodemus:

Wow!! Coolest thing ever, my 2 year-old daughter is a Big Hats fan. Wohoo!!

My daughter is almost 2 and every now and again she has seen me browsing CDO off-and-on over the past year, usually looking through the image galleries. She’s also seen me with some of the figs as well (usually putting them away or moving them out of reach). She’s become quite partial to the classic CD Axemen as I let her hold one for a while last week. Although I don’t think the Axeman fully appreciated it she sang to him and was patting him like she does to the cats. After that episode she now calls all of them “Hats” and over the weekend pointed to my laptop and said “More hats daddy, please.” Of course I said ‘yes’, and so we just sat for 5 mins or so scrolling through the galleries looking at the “Hats”.

Just doing my part to raise her properly!!

She has to be the youngest big hat fan out there :hat off

Ronshank:

Stick with those heavy duty old school metal tall hats she likes and watch out for the where did that figure of mine go game. Still awesome.

Time of Madness:

Wow that is definitly young to start getting her into the game. Make sure you start reading her books like The Hobbit

Raising the next generation  ensuring the survival of Chaos Dwarfs.

dncswlf:

Fantastic story!!! does her mom approve is the big question though! lol!

Kered:

The most adorable thing I heard all month. Brilliant story:)

Grimstonefire:

Hey, by the time she is old enough to game there might actually be a new Chaos Dwarf army book!

cornixt:

My three-year-old daughter is often asking me about the models. “What’s that? Why’s he holding that? Is it a scary monster?”. She is more into fairies than gaming at the moment though. Could be a potential Wood Elf player…

Scion:

Yay, another Wood Elf player!

Ronshank:

Hey not all chicks are warhammer haters! Heck we do actully play as well (I admitt not many).

Oh by the way if you get an extra model (ie a warrior thats always kicked out for a hero/Lord) and spray it in a white undercoat you can let her "paint" the model with water colours. It will keep her busy for a while. Metal is best. You don't want to be re-sticking arms, axe tops etc. it gets annoying and invest in a lockable cabinet for bit part models. Like I said watch out for the find the model game ;) .

Yes, luckily Mom is more than OK with the hobby. She feels that it is a good balance to my work life, which is typically 60-80 hours a week. When she sees me getting out paints and models she's usually relieved that I'm not working! :o

As it happens, I've been fantasizing about a couple of different lockable metal tool cabinets at Home Depot. I figure I've got another year or two at least before it's an issue. Luckily we have a raised ledge in our basement where we store all of our board games and my Warhammer goods. Unfortunately my daughter has already developed the 'clever monkey uses her tools' tricks, like getting things to climb on so that she can climb to even higher places... but the ledge is quite high. Even the cats are only just able to jump up that high.

Thanks for the tip about the metal figs & water colours. So far she hasn't seen me painting but it's only a matter of time. If we give it a go I'll have to be sure to get pictures ;)

Well, you can do the same when they talk about shoes or shopping or Valentines or ... pretty much anything! :)

Obsidian:

Lol, mine’s just happy I leave here alone when I am ‘playing’ with my bearded little fellars! :stuck_out_tongue:
