[Archive] Clarification on the Quake rule?

Heavygear:

Does the Quake rule affect infantry models? I know I have seen this question before but I don’t believe there was a definate answer. In the absence of faq, how do you play this rule?

Dînadan:

Don’t have Tamurkhan to hand to double check the exact wording, but fairly sure it effects all models unless they have a special rule that makes them immune to dangerous terrain (eg Etheral units).

Bloodbeard:

Hard question, the rules are written very badly. So based on the words, you can pretty much decide wether you want to play it evil or soft. Considering the point cost of the machine and the higher rate of self-destruction I’ll play it nasty. But I havn’t build my dreadquake yet. Depending on a few games against my opponents, I’ll reconsider the rule. But playing it hard “take dangerous terrain test if you move at all”, seems to be the only defence for taking it over a Hellcannnon.

Geist:

I have always played it and treated as its adjustment to the rules as written. Or more to the point it works kinda like a frost phoneix from the high elves. It grants the unit it effects a special rule.

Ergo:

Frost Phoniex gives any unit in contact asl and -1 st.

Dread Quake any unit taking a casualite suffers the dangerous terrain rule.

So yes infantry would indeed be given it as the attack adds a special rule to a unit affected by it.

Thats my two bits. But hey in less than 3 weeks it wont matter LOL.

sam585:

Can’t come soon enough, but I have always played it as Geist has suggested.
