Fellow Dawi Zharr. Another great year (and a half) has passed in Zharr-Naggrund and the CDO community. So it’s once again time to show our appreciation of fellow members with awards.
Thanks to Carcearion we now have some medals for this - and already the ones for next year.
Our newer members might have seen profiles with some impressive Golden Cups, this is the yearly Community Awards. Members are nominated and voted for by the community.
Only 5 medals are awarded each year, special pixel bling never to be awarded again - as such these medals are held in high regard and it’s an honour to receive a nomination.
So with all this now is the time to get your nominations in. REMEMBER: As in years past this is only for achievements in the year 2015. Anything that has been achieved in years past other than 2015 is not counted for nominations. So keep this in mind when nominating your fellow hobbyists.
We know this is really late in the year for this! So you guys have to do some work now. Go scout the sub sections, check the blogs, look at the dates and look back in your memories.
The categories for 2015 are unchanged from previous years and are as follows:
Best Attitude - A member should be nominated on their forum presence and behavior toward other members, displaying exemplary attitudes of kindness and encouragement.
Best General - This member is always ready to give advice on army lists, has very good lists of his own, and perhaps has won a tournament or two using his Chaos Dwarf army.
Best Hobbyist -A nominee for this award has contributed an amazing model, or models that exemplifies what a Chaos Dwarf army should look like: flawless execution of conversion and painting while adhering to the Chaos Dwarf mythos.
Best Contributor - This award will go the member that has contributed most to the cause of the Chaos Dwarfs. He or she has done or made something that has profoundly benefited the presence of Chaos Dwarfs as a whole!
Best Overall Member - This member may not be the best hobbyist, might not ever win a tournament, but he or she has a great presence on the site, the forum, the wiki, the chat and whatever else! They are dedicated to the cause of the Chaos Dwarfs!
What to nominate for?
The staff encourage you to supply the reason for your nominations. As these nice words should not be left only for the Staff, reasons will be posted as anonymous quotes in the upcoming voting threads. If for some reason you can’t think of who to nominate in a specific category, please do some research. If you don’t know who the best general should be for example, take a look at the Gaming section of the forum - some members shine through with their tactical knowledge and advice. Who’s been posting battle reports, tactic and helping others with army lists? These should help you come up with a nominee.
Portfolio Post
Given the late nature of this years awards, we’ll do something new. If members feel the need for, they are welcome to make a ‘2015 summary post’ in the thread. Highlighting the best blog projects, count their number of games played, link their battle report section etc.
It will not be counting as unsportsly or against the rules.
How to Nominate
PM your nominations to Staff (a special user that all Staff have access to).
NOTE: You can only nominate one person per category. If you can’t decide which one, flip a coin! You can nominate the same person for different categories.
Nominations should include this:
Award Name
Member Name
The contribution that should be recognized and why they should be recognized.
As in the past the nominations will be tallied and ranked. The top 3 members for each category will then be sent a pm asking them to accept or reject their nomination. If they accept they will then become an official nominee.
If a member rejects the nomination it will be offered to the person with the 4th highest votes, and so on. This may mean if a lot of people reject nominations, or there are not enough people nominated in a category there may only be 1 or 2 people to vote for (or potentially none).
If a person does not reply to the pm we will work on the assumption that they want it and it will automatically be accepted on the behalf of the Staff.
We will not tell people how many other nominees there are, nor will we reveal who the nominees are prior to the next posts that announces the official voting.
The final nominees’ names will then be prepared in separate polls for all to vote on early February. After this there will be a 2 week public poll to decide the winners.
Deadlines:
The deadline for sending in nominations is 11:59 PM EST (eastern standard time) August 13th, 2016. This gives a solid 2 weeks to get nominations in and prepare the polls.
Exempt Members
Note, any members with warnings outstanding will not be given the opportunity to accept a nomination. We will not discuss any of this with the community at large as this is only pertinent to the Staff and the member(s) in question.
The Staff CAN be nominated, HOWEVER, they must not be nominated for their staff-related duties. For example, Admiral could be nominated for his work on organizing competitions and themes, but not for being excellent at moderating the forums (sticking threads, being sheriff etc.). This way we are all on fair ground. We are dealing with what we offer the forum as members, not as staffers.
If you have any questions, ask Admiral or Bloodbeard, we’ll take it to the Staff section if we can’t answer right away!
Think about it all, find your nominees and send them in.
I have big troubles remembering my fellow zharrs contribution so I will ask the admins if this rare occasion will allow the users to link their coolest threads or contributions, to remind us what they did? I will be some what self glorification, but rather that, than me nominating blindly or checking 10+ users thread history from 2015.
And nope. I won’t promote myself. In 2015 i was pretty salty and demotivated, but lets hear from you guys if the admins allow it under this delayed circumstance

Yes. In true Dawi Zharr (perhaps more Hobgoblinish) we'll allow members to try and sell their contributions to CDO! Or link other members cool blogs, perhaps with a link to the page where 2015 started!

Golden Hat XXV) on top. Throw in a post when you’ve send in your nominations for example.
I would like to endorse Forgefire for Best Contributor 2015
Although I myself only joined in 2016 as I scoured the forum I realized that a exceptional contributor began making some of my favorite additions to site the in 2015. His illustrations for the site, making original artwork inspired by stories and background here on the forum, is a truly exceptional and unique contribution and in my mind his illustrations (and hopefully other artists following his lead) are what will make the chaos dwarf cultural project a truly interesting endeavor. Although he has done more of these in 2016, he started doing this in 2015 and continuing on from that he has practically become the sites very own literary illustrator.
Two of my favorite stories illustrated by Forgefire in 2015:
Lol I apologize if I sold this a little hard, the political atmosphere here in the states may have infected my vocabulary a bit, but Forgefire really started doing some outstanding stuff here. :cheers
I did send my nomination in via pm, I had meant for the endorsement to be in the spirit of a enthusiastic “2015 highlight” to share. I realize the call was for members to plug themselves if they wished, but I didn’t feel like it would be inappropriate to drum up support for another user :hat off
Sorry if i was kind of off course with the whole thing. I was slightly worried i had overstepped on this one when I thought about it later x.x
I got kind of swept up after digging around in the backlog and found a user who’s work I really liked to nominate.
Having been given approval from BB and a nod from Malorndk to carry on rambling I’m going to go ahead and endorse Scar for Best Hobbyist 2015
Scar’s stuff is down right phenomenal, his conversions pieces are great, and his dedication to CD as his personal project (as opposed to his professional painting work) is what I think what really qualifies him for the community award, these guys weren’t a commission, this was the army he was passionate enough about to want to take to an international paining competition, and he brought back the gold for the Dawi Zhar back in 2015! Showing off his work first here in the forum (his 2015 working starting in the first link below) and then culminating his incredible display piece that won Chaos Dwarves another competition (second link below).
Maybe a little off topic I want to say that I really recommend anyone who hasn’t seen it before (As a newer member I have been finding a ton of amazing stuff even looking back just at last year!) DAGabriel’s 2nd and 3rd edition collection. A ton of fun miniatures, with great paint jobs, and more then anything its an amazing collection.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what the forum veterans (and fellow newbie forum miners) might remember/bring to light from last year, CDO is a amazingly industrious forum I feel like I’m still just scratching the surface.

Bloodbeard
Well, as long as it's the Hobgoblinish thing to do...I will have to do that. Truth be told, this will be hard for me to pick nominations, my memory is not what it used to be. Lots of 2015 rereading is in order.
And good job Carcearion for the medals, very nice and professional :hat off
Well, I’ve been doing lots of revisiting old 2015 posts (and enjoying every bit of it). So much great stuff, projects and words of wisdom from this community.
2015 really was a great year (despite the shock of AoS).
So I have my choices for Best Attitude, General and Hobbyist.
…I’m having trouble on Best Contributor and Overall Member. These two categories (to me at least) are the two best. And many people justly deserve that nomination.
I’ll be doing more reading this weekend, and hopefully figure out/narrow down my last two nominations.
