[Archive] Converting a Mine layer

Joshmohr:

Hey everyone! For my orks, im working on a spearhead force. I want to convert one of these bad boyz–

It looks pretty big, and i cant decide what to use as a base. Maybe a small soda can, or PVC pipes.

Any advice appreciated!

Kered:

I thank a Valkyrie base would work nicely.

Kered was on the same wavelength as I, however I'm guessing you were meaning what to use as the basis for the underlying framework for further construction?

To my eye it might look something like this:

I think the snout is actually a 5th bottle of the same size, not a 2 L top like I have there. The bottles used also look stubby. You could either get half-height water bottles (which exist and would work great) or you could cut some regular size ones down. The crane looks like it's made with bicycle chain and the wheel on the crane I've seen before but I can't place it right now... although I have a diamond cutting wheel for my Dremel tool right here that looks exactly the same. I guess other than that lots of plasticard and such ;)

The Valkyrie is a nice idea- But ill have to go with the water bottles… Ill start out by buying a soda and then encase it in plasticard.
