[Archive] Daemoneater?

bas_2312:

I’m working on my Chaos Dwarf army, and I really want to include a Daemoneater. However, I have no idea how to model it! I own a Tenderizer model, but it doesn’t fit with the rest of my army, which consists of the Big Hat models.

I was thinking about some kind of robotic Bull Centaur or Lammasu, or maybe some kind of drill/tunneling device…

Do you guys have any brilliant ideas, or maybe pics of your own Daemoneaters?

nitroglysarine:

the plans i had for mine was a demon in a box, led by a few Chaos Dwarfs.

or a plan around that idea.

kind of a ‘point and click’ demon.

Grimstonefire:

It seems to me that it has to be a fairly impressive model, seeing as it’s on a chariot base.

Random ideas here:

Convert a doomwheel to have a CD inside.  I tried writing out the rest of the conversion, but it’s easier to show a mock up of what I mean:

black hammer:

I thought about converting the doom wheel for chaos dwarfs when I first saw it. Using it for a daemon-eater is a great idea.:cheers

CheTralfara:

I’m definitely going to convert a doom wheel into a daemon-eater soon, but i need to find a humanoid model with it’s arms and legs stretched out, so i can make a tortured hobgoblin (stretched like on a rack) kinda look, and place him in the center of the wheel… without rats.

Like what they use for training astronauts!

Any ideas for what model to start with for the hobbo?

Grimstonefire:

Sorry che, no ideas immediately.

Looking at the article here, it looks like a simple torso swap would work.  The legs I’d need to compare to a dwarf, chances are they’d be a fraction too big, but probably not an issue.

He has robes, so it would be easy to scrape that down a bit if needed.  Also the feet are armoured boots!  Easy.

CheTralfara:

Grim, I figured out the perfect model to use!!

The screaming fleeing human victim from the giant box set!

His arms are spread out in the air in the perfect position!

Yup got an idea for the guy, remember the running man out of the giant kit - he has two arms up and the other two are kinda together....

this guy,
edit: i just spotted the person before me suggested it to.

Kera foehunter:

that the perfect guy !!!

Hashut’s Blessing:

Alternatively, take the goblin from the goblin doom diver set and remove the wings and sticks: he already has ropes around his arms and is in a sort of Y position and is already a goblin breed  Regardless, get it down quickly so we can see ^^

wallacer:

You could create a kind of steamtankish device with a hat shaped object as a chimney stack (a bit like CD Man O War ships).

CheTralfara:

Another Idea for a Daemoneater… Remember the Sentinel-like Daemoneater drawing in the new Indy GT book?

Use sentinel legs to re-create it!

Thank you guys for the help with the model to use for the “DEATH wheel”!

Astranagant:

Assuming that the Penitent Engine model is still available (I don’t keep up with GW releases anymore), a swap of the “pilot” would probably yield a suitable Daemoneater, and as said before, it was based on the Sentinel.

Vash:

i had an idea for this, to build some sort of blimb with all sorts of torture devices underneath. it would then fly low over de battle field mangeling anything dumb enough to get under it… downside is, it’s probably a rather hard conversion.

Father Grumpmas:

I had thought about a simple conversion of a chaos dwarf riding a juggernaunt or the Reaper brazen bull - would work well if you were using a daemoneater as a ‘mount’ for a character.

Border Reiver:

My thought is to use a 1:72 scale WWII tank destroyer and rig up a frame to hold a spinning blade - or to use a tank model with a spinning flail - after mounting a CD in the turret hatch to represent a daemonsmith riding it.
