[Archive] Dark Fortress (Blog of Karring)-UPDATED 29/08/2012

Karring:

Hi, boys!

I begin my army blog with my hobbo horde, which I am remodeling now. Some pics:

The family:

Filler one-orc and his minion, who has just stolen some weapons of a Warrior of Chaos, including helm:

Filler two -animosity:

And the movement base (extra size!!!):

So, I have to paint the few guys that are not, and prepare the bases for fit with the others-CD ones, lava and else.

DAGabriel:

Seems you have a lot to do! To work to the praise of Hashut!

Karring:

A filler I am making for my future second IG unit:

The “pot” is the uppest part of a GW painting tin, cutted for my purpose (wahahahahaha!!!).

Suggestions? More ideas? Someone to guess pieces I have used:cheers?

Bolg:

I like the filler.

A bit of well intended feedback: you should check out the mold lines:

next time remove these with a sharp knife, it will make you plastics look a lot better.

cheers

Karring:

Thank you Bolg, I will do:cheers

Now, boys, I am magnetizing my IG for getting blunderbusses and fireglaives all in one. I will post pics when I reach it.

Karring:

Hello again, boys!
I have to say that magnet`s idea have been a succes.

Here is a pic of the hard process of gluing magnets to weapons handles. My finger are crying…

Up view of blunderbuss during the process:

And here, IG guys with fireglaives:

How do they look?

DAGabriel:

Quite fine, really like them. To tell the truth, I am much too lazy to try something like the magnetizing business.

CopperPot:

Really like your infernal guard seems like a lot of work what you are doing with the blunderbusses good job.

DAGabriel
No, you are not lazy at all: I am bored, which is quite different, haha

Thank you, pals.

Sherlocko:

Nice infernal guards. And the weapon swaps seems solid.

Da Crusha:

nice magnet work. that sure will help with versatility. Im looking forward to seeing some pics of them with the blunderbuss conversion.

Da Crusha
Ask, and you shall receive:

Sorry for the excesive flash... If you want more pics, from other angles, etc, only ask them.

Abecedar:

Clever bugger aren’t you. never even thought to use sprue as tray edging and magnetising the tips of weapons is brilliant. well done, just wished you’d shown me this before I’d gone as far as I have with my BB conversions. mind you they have been stalled since LoA came out.

for me, your troops look fine and are doing great. But the bases seem to have too much in the way of the highlighting shades and (my problem too) is that there are streaks and straight lines in the highlighting.

Karring:

Here is the finished filler:

And the new banner, loyal to his esclavist instints:

Aye: I simply do a grey dry brush above a black imprimation, letting the hard highlight work for the lava. Bad done, anyway. Lazy, lazy I am…

Karring:

Hello again!

Some better pics of IG, and a pair of photos about classic blunderbusses, which I recently have finished:

I know, I know… I have to fill those grooves…

Karring:

And here is my classic Bull Centaur!! I think I will use him like a Taur Ruk, so he needs an adecuate base. I hope my skaven abomination does not care if I use a “little” bit

I was thinking to paint all the base like magma, and only the “ruins island” like rock. What do you think?

CopperPot:

I like your unit filler looking good.

Karring:

CopperPot
Thank you, Copper :)

After having a "flash", I have begun to convert a K`daai Fireborn with remain pieces of skaven and chaos:

I have to make him armas, more fire with green stuff and other details-more armour.

What do you think?

Karring:

Advances on the fire daemon:

What do you think? Any suggestion?

Samanos:

are the hands finished?

i think they would look better if they were longer and bigger.

also a neck might be a good idea, or you could change the facing of the mask as it looks to me like its gazing at the stars…(no puns intended)
