[Archive] Dînadan's blog (updated 21/12/15)

Dînadan:

Been a member for a couple of days, so probably about time I started a blog of my stuff, lol.

To begin with, I think it’s best if I outline my plans for what I intend to do in the long run. My plan is to use the fandex by M4cR1II3n (link) and hopefully I’ll ultimately be able to field a variety of units from that book. If things work out I’ll be using a mix of own sculpted/home cast minis, conversions/kitbashes and classic big hats. Theme wise, the home cast stuff will represent forces from Uzkulak, and the big hats will represent a contingent from Zharr-Naggrund (thinking of the Despot leading them as being from ‘The Zharr-Naggrund Outlying Fortess Oversight Committee’ or some such ostentatious title :P).

Well, that’s it for the talking for now, so here’s some pretty pics (well, pics - WiPs and unpainted stuff are hardly pretty lol):

WiP Bull Centaurs:

These use Demigryph and Blorcs as the base with the other details being sculpted.

WiP Overlord:

WiP Daemonsmith:

Big Hats:

I also have some blunderbusses which have arrived today and I haven’t had time to snap a pic of yet. My plan is to do hat swaps between the plastic axedwarfs and the metal blunderbusses to add some variety and help cover up the limited sculpts.

WiP Hat swaps:

As an addendum to the previous point, I did have two blunderbusses that came with a Bloodbowl Team I bought a few weeks back, so while I was waiting for the ones I bought recently to arrive, I decided to do test swaps with them.

War Machines:

Speaking of Bloodbowl, might aswell include them in this blog aswell

Chaos Dwarf Blockers:

Like the Blunderbusses/axedwarfs, I’ve done hat swaps to add variety.

Bull Centaurs:

Hobgoblins:

May do some conversion work on the duplicate hobbos to add variety and make it easier to tell them apart.

Minotaur:

Conversion based on a OoP Ogre that came with the BB team I bought. The conversion is inspired by a fluff piece in the earlier mentioned fandex which had one of the Chaos Dwarf Sorcerers crossbreeding Minotaurs with Lammasu.

Well, that’s it for now; hopefully I’ll be able to keep this regularly updated

Dînadan:

Thanks BABIS, just hope I can keep the momentum up - the Bull Centaurs have been sitting on the work bench for months without much being done to them ^^;

Fuggit Khan:

great start!

BABIS
Agreed...and always good to see a new blog. You've got quite a nice ambitious start here, keep with it :hat off

Dînadan:

Thanks. Just hop I’m able to make the big hats as good as you have

Bloodbeard:

It’s nice to see demigryphs being used for something good. Because as an old empire player I really hate those demigryphs.

The daemonsmith with ball and chain has a really cool face and pose.

Good work! Will follow this blog.

Dînadan:

Thanks Bloodbeard

Yodrin:

Your of to very good start, keep em coming

Shield for the Overlord:

Close up of Overlord’s face:

BoomBoom:

That BC standard is going to be sweet. Nicely done.

Dînadan:

Thanks. I did try to sculpt a rune onto the round ‘shield’ part of it, but it was too awkward to get right. Will either sculpt on a rune of Hashut like the Overlord’s shield, or will just paint on the original design.

Bloodbeard:

Using those old plastic big hats to actual give the unit a bigger diversity is a great idea.

Do try to add the rune of hashut to the great BC banner. It would work very well.

Dînadan:

Thanks. Actually it has less to do with adding diversity to the blunderbusses than it has to adding diversity to the plastics. Adding diversity to the metals was just a nice bonus

Yodrin:

Very nice standard indeed!!!

Dînadan:

Thanks Yodrin. Originally I was just going to use it unconverted with it being a cloth banner, but as between starting the BC conversions ages ago (before the FW ones were released as I recall) and now I’d decided to have Roman-esque ‘totem’ standards on the regular CDs, I thought it’d look better to have the BCs match, and I’m sure you’ll agree it’s for the better
