I just ordered two boxes of these on eBay but now I’m worried they won’t rank up correctly. I intend to use them as Blacksouls for Abyssal Dwarfs in Kings of War. So if anyone has any personal experience with them, could you let me know if they’ll rank up alright, or do I need to see about changing my order to the updated versions with smaller axes? Thanks.
Hey Green Knight, not sure if you saw my awnser over the Mantic Forum but if your determined to use the maximum model count and to fit them togeather base to base on ranks and files I would highly recommend trying to get your order changed to the Remastered versions of the great weapons.
Yeah, I saw it, thanks. I contacted the seller, so hopefully he’ll change them over to the remastered versions.
Although now I wonder, would it be possible to rank them up properly if you put one of those models next a remastered version and alternate between the two? Original, Remastered, Original, Remastered, etc.? IF it were possible, then that may be a great way to add extra variety to a regiment (or horde).
I just hope they read my message and change my order in time. :\ Honestly, I don’t like multibasing at all. I prefer being able to take the models off the movement trays and having them rank up base-to-base. It’s so much neater in my eyes that way.
Hmm you know I think alternating the remastered and regular great weapons would work quite well. I have both versions I’ll give it a go for you and try it out.
Btw did you join just yesterday thanks to my recommendation?

Yep, thanks for letting me know about this site. :)
And yeah, I still haven't gotten a response from the eBay seller, so I don't know if they'll get switched or not. So if you can check that out, I'd appreciate it. Because if he doesn't respond then my option would be either return the models when they arrive, which'll take forever, or ordered Remastered versions and mix them in to make a Horde. That would be my preference. And even if he does switch them out in time, it'd still be useful to know if they rank up together well, because that would then provide some nice variety in my unit.
So I made a point not to cherry pick these miniatures, and after fiddling with them for awhile (even taking the time to cut off the slots on the bottom of the models to i could reposition them on the 20mm base), I’m very sorry to report that they do not rank up very well at all, it took several different arrangements just to make it to this sloppy rank, and this is with just two of the classic great weapons out of five miniatures. I think you could probably get away with a one to four ratio without any real problems.
Now despite this i feel pretty confident that if you dedicated the time to fitting the puzzle pieces together here you could make this ratio work, angling them just so on the base, putting some further up and others further back, but it would be a pain and if that’s not something you wanna deal with I’d highly recommend getting your order changed. They are highly responsive on their facebook page and I would recommend reaching out to them on that front as well. Alternatively they also fit well on 25mm bases which I typically place them on when I have them on single bases for games besides KoW, yes this makes their footprint an awful lot bigger but it is tournament legal and they would look nice.
I feel inclined to defend RA some more on this front, the Rozmax Fire Canyon Dwarves are my absolute favorite miniatures of all time, but I just cant they made the remastered set because this is a pretty serious flaw, and I think they really aught to have a note on there web store about the difference.
the Russian Alternative team are really great to deal with, I would doubt they would mind changing it.
I put all mine of 25mm bases because that is what I started with the GW ones. They go fine on 25mm… the 20mm bases they come with would make it difficult I think.
That being said they are really great quality sculpt and cast, perfect addition to my big hat army! Great work Rozmax!
I totally agree, so long as they get the message in time I can’t imagine our friends over their in Russia not switching up and order.
and I concur, amazing sculpts, my favorite miniature line hands down, these guys just aught to come with some bigger bases and maybe a more detailed description.
I intend to use them for Kings of War, so ideally I’d rather stick with 20mm bases (Although personally I think ALL human-sized infantry models should move to 25mm bases). But yeah, I went ahead and messaged them on their Facebook page as I wasn’t getting a response by messaging through eBay, so here’s hoping they can change it up in time.
Well like I said even playing Kings of War 25mm bases would be tournament legal, though the increased footprint would probably be disadvantaged from time to time (depending on their strategic function though it could actually benefit you).
It is possible to rank them even on 20 mm bases. I play them for 2 years now. Not every model fits ner to each other. Using a unit filler or a 40x40 base with only 2 or 3 models help a lot.
I play KoW and have essentially given up worrying too much about base size. My gaming group does their best to keep to the general sizes. I don’t multi-base, but I do edit so that the models fit well on single bases, including throwing in unit fillers to represent mutated throwing mastiffs and similar. I often

Ooh this is a really interesting solution, I had never considered 40mm bases.
Well, I’m getting a bit worried. I sent two messages through eBay, received no response. I then went to the Facebook and sent a message there, but received no response. And then I made a post on the page itself and still haven’t received a response. :\
Hmmm… I’d say unless the item is marked as shipped on ebay that fat lady hasnt sung yet man, if I remember correcrltly the shipping process often takes a bit of time (I have sometimes wondered if they are made to order).
Whew, mission accomplished. I just got a message back and they told me that the order was changed, so all is well. I can’t wait to get my models. I’ve got an Undead army for regular Kings of War gaming right now, unpainted sadly, but I’m going to treat my Abyssal Dwarf army with care. I’m going to make sure every unit is painted before I play with it. It’s going to look great when I’m done with it.
