[Archive] Does Anyone Recognize These Models?

koyote:

I have 2 Chaos Dwarf models that I have never come across before anywhere.  They aren’t in the 1994 Chaos Dwarf army book, any catalog, or in any picture I have ever seen.  They both have a copyright symbol and 1995 on their tabs.  I wonder if they are unreleased models?  A friend of my that worked at US GW HQ gave them to me many years ago.

Thanks in advance

Canix:

Yes thay are some the unreleased CD minis .Not sure of the details surrounding these mini’s but they are quite characterful chaps. There are always a few on Ebay :hat

cornixt:

They were sold by GW mail order around 2000 and later. They were classed as CD-A and CD-B, no proper code number for some reason. Someone said they were intended for a Warhammer Quest expansion that never made it.

There are a load of recasts that often appear on Ebay where the hats above are replaced with older CD hats. The number and volume of the recasts make me suspicious of a lot of CD stuff on Ebay.

Sometimes I doubt myself too. It's amazing how many fifth edition chaos dwarfs you can find on ebay being one of the less selling series ever.... checking ebay they should have sold zillions of them!!!
I do not care if have recasts in my collection as long as I got a fair price and they look ace.

By the way those two Cds look ace for a regiment of Great weapons, if you have a fifth edition Cds army.....

Border Reiver:

I own CD Warrior A (ie the one on the left) and remember buying him in a blister.

And to the koyote - you’ve got a good friend there giving you gifts like that.

They should be listed in the Wiki. http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/wiki/index.php?title=Chaos_Dwarf_Models_-_4th_to_7th_Edition

It seems they were not properly released but where available in the US from mailorder. IIRC what I read somewhere on the site. I was given one of each by when I was visiting some friends in Illinois last August.

Really nice models.

nitroglysarine:

think they would make nice models for Obsidian Guard or the like.

Look again, my friend:D I'm sure you'll find them in the warrior section - togeter with a illegal cast that I own - a second illegal recast is out there - but haven't found it at a decent price, yet.

So now I'm even more interested in these guys... I've passed up ever bidding on them when they've shown up on eBay.

Do you recall where you heard about the WHQ rumor or have a sense how reliable your source was at the time?

I'm certain there must have been a Chaos Dwarf expansion in the works that never made it.  The Monster tables were very Chaos Dwarf-heavy at all Battle-levels.  And GW wouldn't have gotten the same artist who did all of the WHQ floor tiles (including all of the expansions and the mail order Pits and Traps tiles) to just make an extra one themed around Chaos Dwarfs, but only to use it as an objective in a regular Warhammer fantasy battle game in White Dwarf.  At least that my belief.

PS Anyone have a CD-A and CD-B they'd like to part with. I'm not above lowering myself to offer ca$h ;)

koyote:

Thanks for the info everyone. :cheers

Keep your eyes on eBay.  I have a bucketload of unpainted CD models I intend to sell in the near future -including these two little gems.

OK... ulp. If you'd be happy ensuring that they'd find a good home with a CD fan, and not just be re-sold... I'll happily save you the trouble of listing them on eBay! Seriously. If you think we can come to an agreeable and fair price I'd be very happy to have these guys in my collection instead of being sniped on eBay by a reseller on a faster connection or at a time that I just can't be in front of the computer to up my bid at the last second.

Feel free to private message me if you're interested. If not, please let us know when they go up for auction.

Uh? And what in my posts says anything else? I even link to the page where they are.

Obsidian:

I have some although i’ll fairly admit that i am not sure if they are re-casts. I might be selling some of these soon though…

It was from someone on this forum, but I don't remember who. They seemed reliable enough, it wasn't from a random unknown member.

Hmmm, if anyone remembers any details or has something to add re: a Warhammer Quest CD expansion that never-was (using these models or not)... feel free to chime in!

The Brain:

These guys where released in the US. I have an old White Dwarf around that gives the code for them but they are just listed as Chaos dwarf A & B. I don’t think that there are as many recasts as people tend to think. Around the time that bitz production stopped before moving manufacturing to Memphis a lot of employees loaded up on bulk bitz of the some of the more rare armies to put out on ebay and give to friends. Back them employees could buy bulk metal for $0.04 an ounce so the loaded up before things moved.
