Of all the reptillian nightmares that inhabit the jungle-shrouded continent of Lustria, Dread Saurians are one of the most feared; an echo of ancient days when huge beasts such as they did battle with the forefathers of dragons for supremacy. Immense creatures, larger than the towering Carnosaur, Dread Saurians are few in number and sacred to the Lizardmen, and the fury of each that prowls the fetid jungles is moderated only by the arcane power of the ceremonial armour that bedecks them. Without this precaution, even the power of the Slann could not hold them in check.
When the winds of magic rise and a great storm draws close, the Slann Mage-priests will stir and chant the ancient rituals of binding, shackling the captive Dread Saurians to their will, while their legendary might is coveted by the sorcerers and wizards of younger races. Let loose upon the battlefield these reptilian monstrosities wreck terrible havoc upon the foe with both their fang-lined jaws and the divine blessing of the Old Ones.
The rules for the Dread Saurian, as well as many other great beasts, can be found in Monstrous Arcanum.
In the resin grey it is possible to notice some odd, not that realistic things about musculature and maybe also texture if one compares to very convincing pieces of pseudo-reptile anatomy like the Carmine Dragon or the old Great Spined Dragon.
On Warseer there was even someone who claimed it to be the Pumabagor with scales (which is unfair by a long stretch).
Not that it should matter one iota if one likes the model. And I always welcome more dinosaurs to Warhammer :cheers
Well At the Last Games Day Trish did say that she was working her way through the Monstrous Arcanum book and would be focusing on WFB instead of HH or 40K
I’m really looking forward to seeing what she is working on now that the Saurian is finished.
My lad (who plays lizzardmen) desperately wants one but I’ve told him he’ll have to save up himself. That’s a lot of washing up that needs doing
This is a truly magnificent model! I remember seeing a sneak peek of it in White Dwarf (before it became weekly) so there has been somewhat of a delay on it’s release.

.. But not as much delay as the Destroyer ;)

If I recall. The Saurian was first sighted as a WiP the games day before the destroy was shown.

Sorry no. The destroyer was first seen at the Forge World open day 2012. The first time the Saurian appeared was Games Day 2013. Gia and I had a long conversation with Trish about it at the time.

Fair play. Although, I didn't go to games day last year and yet do distinctly remember seeing the dread Saurian as a WiP at an event and I have only been to gamesdays.
