[Archive] Dual Hellcannon question

Mbutler132000:

Quick question on a dual Hellcannon list. I know that the army books are supposed to trump the rulebook when there is a disagreement. So if you run two Hellcannons and shoot at the same unit twice in one turn, does that mean the unit takes two panic checks, even though in the rulebook it states a unit only every takes one per phase?

Baggronor:

No, as it doesn’t specifically say its an exception. It just triggers a panic test even if the casualties aren’t 25%.

Mbutler132000:

So does that not trump the rulebook? They are two conflicting rules. I thought that if there were two conflicting rules you always go with the army books. Since the rules for the Hellcannon do not state that the units takes the panic rest if it has not already, but rather that they always take it it sounds like the same unit would take two different panic tests. Maybe I’m reading it wrong, or missing a rule.

Baggronor:

It says the unit takes a panic test “as if it had taken 25% casualties…”.

Ordinarily, taking 25% casualties twice in one phase still only causes one panic test, and as the Hellcannon causes panic tests using the same mechanic, you would only test once.

Mbutler132000:

Ok that makes sense.

Thought it was multiple tests, thanks for updating Baggronor!
