Okay it’s most likely we wont get much direct involvement save for a few HCs being rented to Archaon during the End Times, so I’ve kind of come up with a crazy idea for some home brew rules and fluff scenario, End Times Astragoth (because why not?)
So following the ET trend we need a character on the huge monster base and several smaller monsters on the chariot base.
So for Astragoth, what should he be mounted on? giant lamasu? Some kind of avatar of Hashut? Or maybe a huge war machine thing???
And for the large infantry styled units? (morgast/blight knight equivalent)
Give me your ideas! ( yes I will be making a giant monster just for Astragoth ).
Astragoth has always been a more mechanical character. Seeing as he can’t move himself naturally anymore. Perhaps a giant hellbound Iron daemon or maybe even a K’daii construct.
I would love to read an end times book from the point of view of the Dawi-Zharr.Find out what happened to our glorious cities during these cataclysms.
Common for big ET characters is a shared profile. So Astragoth can be put on anything big.
It has to be something that he locks into. He mechanical body is not build to ride anything.

Considerations for Astrogoth
Should be on a 40mm base (monstrous infantry character), thus he can’t be stomped.
I think Astrogoth, being high priest and all, should have Lore Master: Hashut and know all spells from the LoA lore.
I’ve been thinking about giving him the Heroic Killing Blow special rule. Then he should of cause not have that many attacks, but this might be too easy a way to bring down Astrogoth, despite his 5++. This is also inspired by his old rules, where he could double his attacks because of the arm going into overdrive.
A strength 3 breath weapon (steam) might be a cool thing, as he is in a giant steam driven suit.
The Mortachs from Nagash has a combined profile (a brilliant idea) are 650 points, magic users, S6, T6 and between 8-10 Wounds. This could be a guideline. Though Astrogoth should never have that many wounds.
Though the large armor could justify S6 or S5 and T6. Astrogoth should have 4 or 5 Wounds. Equal to Drazhoath plus something from the fact that he almost entirely stone and metal.
A rule, in the line of the “none FAQed” blazing body is a neat idea. Because of all the steam and smoke around Astrogoth a -1 to hit would be cool.
A 2+ save should be realistic (as chaos armor, enchanted shield is pretty common for us), and a 5++ or 4++ (which is a bit better against fire attacks).
When this great monster of a steam engine comes into speed, it doesn’t stop. A d3 impact hits and swiftstride is a possibility. I like ThommyHs fluff on how chaos dwarfs try to hold back the insane Astrogoth - otherwise he just charges out in front of the army.[[/quote]]
I’m planning on building Astrogoth together with Ghazkul Thraka. Picture can be seen in link.
I would love a huge Aatragoth to take on Karl Franz and Malekith.
Im rather sure Astragoth used to have the ability to make one high powered attack and let out stem as a breath weapon of he didn’t move that turn back in the WD presents.
Hopefully TommyH will give us some ET related stuff soon.
You know someone should really make this some kind of competition, make their own version of Astragoth on a huge beastie of their choice (as long as its mounted on a 150x100mm base).
I know I’d be interested to see what you guys come up with! For me I’m thinking of putting him on some kind of K’daai like monster or inside a huge steampunk suit of armour.

Been thinking about two things:
Artisans Contest: Make an End Times style special character or upgrade an existing special character to End Times style.
Golden Hat Contest: Build convert an End times style monster, character, machine.

Why not do both? After all, why should we be left out of the ET madness!
After thinking about it my main problem is to find an appropriate model for Astragoth. The original model is on eBay much too expensive (~50-60 GBP) and till now I didn’t find a good alternative. :~
Nonetheless great themes for the next AC and GH! :cheers

Awesome. This must happen.
Also, perhaps an End Times Scribe's Contest as well? What are the CDs doing during ETs after all? We need fluff, scenarios, battle rosters.
As for Astragoth, Transformers has taught us all what awesome robot dudes who need a power boost do: He'd get a buddy/trailer/misc extra add-on thing to combine with and become Omega Astragoth! Or something. A battlesuit upgrade sounds just the ticket. I'd start with a Helbrute personally :hashut

I thought he just opens the Matrix of Leadership to become Gothimus Prime :~
Yes, End Times themes for Artisan’s and Golden Hat are a must. There is already one prepared and ready for Scribe’s Contest, thanks to Skink’s work.
We’ll wait with launching the End Times Scribe’s Contest until ET: Archaon is released, in case we get some nice mentions in it. We’ll probably do the same for Artisan’s and Golden Hat. You never know what might pop up.
Or do you want an End Times theme for Golden Hat and Artisan’s Contest right away? That could be arranged.
End Times Astragoth would indeed be a likely candidate to show up in such contests.

Thank you
And honestly any chaos dwarf model will do, just ad the bighat and mechanical limbs ;P
If the question came up earlier I'm sorry. I wasn't online the last few days and just checked in back and saw those butterfly.
Herby
Lol no I'm not JonJon. I was going to upload my own avatar but it was too big so I settled with the butterfly (being a default avatar from the gallery and all that)

Admiral
Right away, right away!!!! This time I want to partecipate :). Enough pen wavings, we wants action! Unsheat your brushes <----Just being silly, good job on your Scribe's contests Admiral ;P
Astragoth Ascended would obviously be the head of a cyborg Ancient Lammasu, enthroned in the machine Bull Centaur style, sticking out where it’s head would’ve been. He would hoover like a Slann, throwing Lore of Hashut and Shadow out the mouths of exploding hobgoblins.
Yes, civil war, massive migrations and invasions of Ogres and Greenskins, slave revolts toppling the evil empire, and large chunks of Chaos Dwarf forces leaving the Dark Lands to join Archaon was about how I imagined it, too. Plus whatever the End Times books introduce, like raining Warpstone. Mainly based on Thommy H’s vision.
@Skink: Haha, but Artisan’s Contest and Golden Hat is the real meat. Scribe’s Contest is a side-show. No matter how fun the fluff is, we’re most strongly in it for the minis!
