Swissdictator:
I am part of a fundraiser right now, basically trying to get ‘sponsors’ for the day of gaming. Basically I’m am pledging to game for 24 hours in order to raise money for Children’s hospitals.
You can donate once (or even several times between now and then), or even set up a monthly donation. I am supporting the Children’s Hospital of my home state (Wisconsin).
You could also join and help fundraise! I ask either you join “Team Cranky” or one of you (and please post if you do, so people join the same team) sets up “Tomb Kings”. When you join you can pick local childrens hospitals to support.
Even a $5 donation can help these kids out. Sharing the information is also very helpful too.
This is something that means a lot to me. I had open heart surgery as an infant, two hernias as a small child , another surgery when I was in 2nd grade, and went through a VERY invasive surgery fixing my chest because I had “Pectus Excavatum”… a very painful surgery that even a month later has me in some significant pain. Having been in the hospital several times over the years, I’m very familiar with it. Even this last time with wonderful nurses, internet connections so I can talk to friends and even ask them to visit, visitors every day, and even being old enough to understand what was happening… it can be somewhat scary… as an adult! It is worse for kids.
So help however you can, be it donating, joining the team, or even simply sharing the info (or even better some combo or all of the above).

I’m on a mission to save kids through video games, and I need your help.I was lucky when I was little. When I was 11 months old I had open heart surgery at UW hospital in Madison, WI. My dad’s insurance was good and I was covered. However, not all kids are this lucky.
My local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital treats thousands of children each year, regardless of their family’s ability to pay. These kids are facing scary stuff like cancer, cystic fibrosis, and injuries from accidents to name just a few
On Oct. 20th, 2012, I’ll attempt to play an epic 24 hour video game marathon and it’s my sincere hope that you’ll find it in your heart to support me with a monthly pledge or one-time gift that will go directly to my hospital.
Your donation is tax-deductible and ALL PROCEEDS go to help kids.
Last year, Extra Life raised more than 1.2 million dollars to save kids, but in 2012 our goals, just like the needs of the kids we serve, are much, much higher.
I can’t do this without your help. Donating online is safe and easy! To make an online donation please click the “Support This Participant” button on this page.
Thank you for caring for our kids!.
Also, when my parents were there they saw kids with far more tragic things that even my own problems. I was an infant, so I wasn’t aware, but there were young kids who were facing terrifying things and it is heartbreaking.
Having recently gone through a very invasive surgery that left me in a lot of pain, and I still hurt (not as bad… but it gets through the pain killers), I know how scary it can be as an adult who understands what is happening to him, can get online to ask for friends to visit, etc. It was likely much easier due to being older, having adult friends to reach out to, etc. I can not imagine how scary it is for a child.
So please, let’s help them out by raising some funds.
