Pretty good rundown.
I think the Legion will do very well in AoS 2. Ironsworn and Fireglaives both have distinct roles and even work well together (Ironsworn screen and tank, Fireglaives shoot the enemy to pieces while they’re stuck on the shield wall). Castellan and BSB are both valuable. Blackshard Warhost is pretty easy to build for that reason, even if it only mainly benefits Ironsworn.
Hashut’s Wrath is interesting. It will let you either spread out the artillery, or utilise the magma cannon+Iron Daemon combo really well (magma cannon have effective 34" threat range doing that). The only war machine I won’t be running is Skullcracker, mainly because chaff screens are a thing and it’s war machine bonus is highly situational. FW also decided to discontinue the model as well…hmmm.
Execution Herd is great, I just think the Bull Centaur models are ugly. But for people who like that list, it’s a really strong battalion.
Fireborn and Drazhoath I think won’t be taken much this edition. The former suffers from no Rend and a bad MW ability in melee, the latter because he will be singled out every time and his Hellshard only works against melee attacks now (which means nothing when Stormcast Ballistas gun him down, or if he gets hit with MW spam). I am considering using Skin Wolves as allies instead, they’re substantially better than Fireborn and two packs fit under Allies really well. Preyton is also worthy of consideration, due to the ambush ability.

I know what you mean about the fw models not my favorite and pricey. Still trying to decide on my bc conversions. However if you can convert there are lots of options. I�?T ve seen chaos knight steeds bulked out with ogor (gw and mantic) bodies. Marvelous but expensive is using juggernauts as a base. If you bulked up the legs then boars could be good There are quite a few other bc type models out there ( mantic half breeds but may be small). If you put up a thread I am sure spme netter equipped cdo members could help.

You could also use Goregruntas I suppose, cut off the Ironjaw riders replace with an Infernal Guard.
I don’t think I’ll run Execution Herd, it’s just not my playstyle. I much prefer the Infernal Guard, it’s what drew me to the army in the first place.
FYI, an absurd combo I was informed of today is using a Chaos Sorceror ally to Daemonic Power a maxed Fireborn unit, then hurl them downrange. Re-roll 1’s for hit/wound/save, they’re incredibly annoying to take down, and they generate a tonne of wounds. I’m still iffy because no Rend, but a max unit is only 480 points, which is surprising.
