[Archive] FAQ for unofficial GT Dwarfs of Chaos Army Book

Hashut’s Blessing:

mattbird: thanks for clearing that up

Hopefully, it won’t be too difficult to bring it into line for 8th edition

Disastro:

Hmmm, I’ve got another inquiry, please:

Can a Daemonsmith’s Daemon weapon be targeted by a spell or effect that negates/destroys a magic item (Vaul’s Unmaking, Malekith’s “Destroyer”, etc.), thereby making the character a non-wizard? If so, and if my Daemonsmith is carrying a dispel scroll or any other arcane item, would he immediately lose the scroll/item as according to the rules “only a wizard can carry an arcane item”?

snowblizz:

Actulay book clearly names it impact hits so it would require an errata.
Whirlwind of Death
When a Daemoneater charges into combat it inflicts D6+2 impact
hits. On turns where the Daemoneater is in combat, but did not
charge, it causes D3+2 impact hits in initiative order.

Gar Shadowfame
Yeah, I agree this needs changing to be clear. Instead of the d3+2 impact hits write, d3+2 automatic hits. Technically it should be enough to say "hits" but I'm sure someone will try to misunderstand it. Impact hits carry with them certain implications on how to resolve it.

Gar Shadowfame:

Deamonsmiths weapon is a magic wepon so you can destroy it in exacly the same way as one can destroy wights magic weapons in VC book.

phierlihy:

New question for the authors - Inferno Golems have magical attacks. If I give one Inferno Golem an Eruption Gun, are those hits magical as well?

You guys wrote a wonderful, characterful book btw! The largest compliment I can offer is you’ve provided my opponents and I many, many hours of fun!! Thank you :hat off

Gar Shadowfame:

this question has b be asked on warmongers forum, rules wise there is no clear indication. Although i belive that intention of the author was that these are not magical, since 2 ranged weapons have “flaming attack” as a special rule added in their description.

Thommy H:

Magical attacks usually just applies to close combat attacks when its part of a unit’s special rules, I think.

phierlihy:

I’m trying to think of a precedent set by another model with “magical attacks” and has a range weapon. I’m drawing a blank.

cornixt:

A dwarf war machine with runes has magical attacks, even if the runes don’t enhance the shot itself.

mattbird:

I’d say no, Inferno Golem’s Eruption Gun does not have magical attacks.

Gar Shadowfame:

Nor the breath weapon.

I based my assumption on what i mnetioned earlier. Inferno golems have both flaming AND magical attacks, but breath weapon has “flaming attack” descriptor, although vague it implies that if not specified as flaming the attack would be “normal”.

But we have tzeench demons on the other hand, namely flamers with all attacks flaming and magical.
