Hey first time posting on here. I have been teaching a new guy at the shop how to play fantasy and even wrote his list for him. I am a decent tournament player, but for some reason am having a really tough time with daemons. Twice I lost because I setup one unit wrong without realizing it. However, a lot of the buffs we get such as panic etc daemons are immune to. He runs a soul grinder, a horde of blood letters a smaller unit of plaguebearers, 3 screamers, and 1 small, 2 independent blood crushers, a 10-20 man unit of horrors and each unit has one herald. He always takes lore of life.
Anyone else had problems with daemons? Would love to hear your thoughts.
I have played Daemons against a list quite like the one you listed. Double Magma-Cannon + Destroyer + Hashut= Win
Ashstorm nerfs lore of life like it is not even funny and the destroyer can clean up everything but the Bloods which can be easily thinned with double magma.
Breath of hatred: use during first turn to give everyone hatred, its a RiP so can be potentially used for the rest of the game. curse of hashut is useful for sniping. ashstorm for a lot of stuff. flames of azgorh for killing things. Im not a big fan of the rest of the spells.
the chalice is a must. use all of your dispel dice and then activate to get rid of what they have left. use on your turn when you have many more dice then them.
Not only does Ashstorm make stuff flameable, but it allso makes your opponents hit you on a 5+ (unless you are fighting something with realy high WS), unable to charge you, take a dangerous terrain test if they want to move and limit your opponents magic phase.
I like the idea of casting ashstorm into close combat, targetting a herald with your castellan just to reveal you got killing blow from your black hammer of hashut! Combine that with Breath of Hatred and you got a realy good chance at killing him outright!
