[Archive] Finds on eBay and Strategies for defeating Extortionist Pricing

Pyro Stick:

£56!!! and those are quite commen in their boxes too?:hat

Canix
Its usually the thing that is always on ebay for chaos dwarfs so i dont know why they suddenly rocketed.
Someone tell that guy to bid on my stuff.

Please. :P

angryboy2k
Lol dont worry, im watching your stuff. But people are more likely to go for this.

angryboy2k:

Gah, I never even noticed that one.

'Course, mine look prettier

Steve

clam:

I’ll be watching them too, Steve - but don’t expect me to pay £56 - for eighter of them

Astroash the Silent:

Anyone seen the mega Chaos Dwarf Army just appeared on ebay looks neat.

If only I had some spare cash I would bid on this like a shot. What an army, maybe a bit short on CD command figures though.

Willmark:

You mean this one?

torn:

i dont think i would splash the cash on a lot that big without pictures of the models. of course if whats listed is correct then £150 isnt too bad for all that, then again you dont know what the reserve is.

"Dwarf Sorceror"
Please let someone from here bid on it and win it.

Steve

X-Porter:

If anyone needs an Earthshaker, Miniature Men and Components is selling the upper and lower cannon halves and the muzzle. They’re seperate listings, but all priced to “Buy it Now”. You’d need to find/build a carriage for it still, but the prices are great.

Miniature Men

Bought from here many times and never a problem.

This_Is_My_Boomstick!!
I did actually bid on it - I'm the only reason he/she paid more than minimum bid for it. Unfortunately I couldn't bid more than that on a model I don't need and international shipping to Taiwan. Especially since I'll be unemployed in very short order.

I expect to see it up for 15 quid if it's a penny.

Steve

Deebo:

was that not an astragoth figure?

I see that alot of you are familiar with the essex… and I was just wondering… do alot of you get annoyed that there is someone like her that buys CD models, bumps up the price and sells them again?

In my opinion it kind of annoys me, I think I would rather see someone outbid me that will enjoy the mini and keep it… but then on the other hand she is always there with stuff that we want and can buy from her if we really need it for an inflated price when no one else has it… but I still find myself gettin a little annoyed.

zagor66:

she buys up all the promo pieces and one off productions for about 10 ponds and then starts the bidding at 100 pounds.

angryboy2k:

First of all, Essex is a guy. The “girl” thing is probably to attract sympathy in the people with whom he/she has dealings. People from the typical wargaming demographic (male, late teens and older) are more likely to view a transaction with a female sympathetically, especially if she can concoct some sob story about how’s she’s “just puttin’ mah kids through college”.

Second, it would be a lot less irritating if he didn’t bid on EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN auction for marginally cheap miniatures, chaos dwarfs, squats and zoats that comes up. I’m sure he must have a job as unproductive as mine, which allows him to surf teh intarwebz all day in the office. His eBay search parameters must be enormous.

If it was just another collector, eventually he would stop buying because his collection would be complete. Essex isn’t going to stop until he either realizes he’s bought out the market or he dies.

Steve

Willmark:

Angryboy2k is correct on many levels but how do you know she is a he? or vice-versa?

Additionally has anyone else noticed that SWSNBN has now started bidding anonymously? You can no longer search the username for items that “she” is bidding on.

AGPO:

Is there any chance of making a new similar thread to this so that newusers (CDO and/or ebay) don’t have to wade through 300 posts? Just the tips without all the discussion, monster threads of doom are no fun

Willmark:

True but the flip side is that the information gets scattered around multiple threads then. Perhaps a sticky is in order.

Thommy H:

Somehow, I just nabbed a Sorcerer on Lammasu (painted, but it didn’t look thick enough to be a problem) for £14 including p&p! It was £9.99 Buy It Now and I have no idea why someone didn’t nab it before I saw it. I only went on ebay on a random whim.
