[Archive] Fine tuning my 2000pt list

Time of Madness:

My quest to discover the best possible all around 2000pt Chaos dwarf list has taken many twists and turns. However, I think I have finally decided on a standard list (for now).

CHARACTERS

Sorcerer Prophet (General)

- Level 4 death

- Enchanted Shield

- Dispel Scroll

- Talisman of Preservation

= 375pts

Castellan ( BSB )

- Mask of the Furnace

- Shield

= 197pts

CORE

28 Infernal Guard

Both Characters Here

- Full Command

- Lichebone Pennant

= 385pts

10 Infernal Guard

- Full Command

- Fireglaives

= 202pts

SPECIAL

4 Bull Centaurs

- Standard/Musician

- Great Weapons/Shields

= 240pts

Magma Cannon

= 140pts

Magma Cannon

= 140pts

Iron Daemon

- Hellbound

= 310pts

TOTAL POINTS = 1999pts

Previous incarnations to this list have all been similar.

I’ve removed some lone khans in favour of boosting up the centaurs a bit. I’m finding the khans are dying fairly easily to my opponents chaff hunters (specifically dark elf warlocks).

The list features 3 very tough units to remove. The large guard unit, the iron daemon and the 4 centaurs (with their 3W, T5 and 2+ save).

I have some shooting support from the glaives and the cannons.

Opinions on making it better?

Zanthrax:

Looks good- I had the same issue with the khans on wolves.

I am looking forward to using the fireglaives.

Keep us posted on developments

Wolf :

For 2,000 points or even 2,400 points, I rarely exceed the minimum core point requirement.

Suggest look at reducing your core allocation and possibly invest in some Kharns or maybe even a Deathshrieker rocket etc.

Malorndk:

I would remove the fireglaviers for a unit of 20-30 hobos with bows. This would let you put Razor standard or warbanner on your dwarf unit. Gleaming Pennant is better on the bulls as they are more likely to get out of BSB range. I would try a GW on the BSB. Mask of furnace is quite tanky enough, some ability to kill would help.

You could consider skipping the BSB and just run gleaming pennant in the IG unit. This would free up some points for a crown of command/greatwaepon Taruk to join your bulls (with full command you can stand in second rank and avoid getting attacked if you only deploy 2 or 3 wide). With a mobile, stubborn unit Bulls with tauruk and GW it’s about as killy as a K’daii, but without the biggest backdraws (dragonhelm counter, tougnesstest, frenzy rolls). The weakness in this unit is the lack of look out sir. A canon slaying the Tauruk will remove the stubborn and thereby the units staying power

Time of Madness:

Thanks for the comments. I’ve made some very minor adjustments to the list.

The only thing I’d be willing to drop at this point is the champion in the fireglaive unit, I had an extra 10 points and couldn’t figure out what to spend it on.

The iconcurse icon was added to my bsb and the gleaming pennant to the centaurs.
