[Archive] fireglaive champion query

Bad Gram Northern:

Is this the right part for rules queries?

anyway I got a question: If you equip Infernal Guard with Fireglaives and equip the overseer (or deathmask whatever) with a pistol, does he also keep his fireglaive? so you can chose each turn wich weapon to shoot?

thanks

Gunnerson:

When you buy a weapon upgrade you always use the upgrade.

Bad Gram Northern:

well, technically aren’t they both upgrades?

Hashut’s Blessing:

You choose which weapon to shoot and which to use in close combat in this case.

Geist:

In shooting you may choose which gun, in hand to hand you must go with whatever weapon upgrade you have outside of hand weapon. In this case its a halberd.

Hashut’s Blessing:

Actually Geist, you have an option - Halberd or Additional hand Weapon. Both are classed are special weapons, but neither supercedes the other.

Bad Gram Northern:

cool, so you can use his fireglaive to shoot long range and chose the pistol (a lousy 2points) to stand and shoot. sounds like a must have!

Hashut’s Blessing:

Not much point using the pistol for stand & shoot because there’s no difference, lol

cunlux:

Nah, go with a Naptha bomb instead to get to take a stand and shoot reaction at short range with the unit. You don’t even need to use it, just having will make the dwarfs wait to shoot til the chargers are at 6".

" – the shooting is resolved normally assuming the enemy is just within maximum range of the shooting unit’s shortest-ranged weapon."

Works perfectly with cut-throats aswell, They always fire their bows at short range on a stand and shoot…

How exactly does one get a Naptha Bomb inside a unit of Hobgoblins?!

Grimbold Blackhammer
You don't, but hobgoblin have throwing daggers as default weapons. I'm only not sure it works as cunlux says, but I can't check it right now.

Ublivent:

My favourite piece of equipment the good old Naptha bomb
