[Archive] First Chaos Dwarf List Idea

BOGGO:

So I’ve started converting my Chaos Dwarfs, but I want a goal: something to build up to. I think I’m going to go with this (or something similar after a couple of tweaks). The idea is to set up strong in one corner, creating a kill zone as the enemy advances to my combat units. Multiple hobbo units can draw out enemy deployments, and bull centaurs are a counter attack force. I’ve never actually played with Chaos dwarfs, so any advice is appreciated.

wallacer:

That is a damned fine list.

If it were me i’d probably drop one of the sorcerors to free up some points for some Wolf Riders (which are great and could support your Bull Centaurs), but that’s really just personal preference.

6 artillery pieces may be a bit much for some opponent’s taste, but it’s hard to know that for sure without knowing who your opponents are.

You may also want to increase your blunderbuss units by a couple of guys just to stop people whittling them down to strength 4 shotswith just a couple of kills.

Those are just minor suggestions though.  In all, it is a well thought out list with good balance and enough variety to make for an interesting game :hat off

BOGGO:

After looking at it I probably should drop two of the bolt throwers, 'cause that is a butt load of war machines. I’d like to add more Blunderbuss dwarfs, but it looks like shielding them with 10 hobbos is cheaper. So if I can shave another 50 points off (I could lose 1 scroll and not fret) I can have my wolf riders. Thanks for the input, I certainly appreciate hearing from people who have actually played with these guys. They are looking pretty fun to me.

I lke the list - its very similar to what i normally use - some options you may want to consider

1: Add a standard to the blunderbuss units - that gives them static combat res of 3 and makes them a viable medium infantry unit

2: I would not take heavy hobgoblins - orcs are a better choice for not many more points - although they do take a special slot

3: A small unit of black orcs can add a lot of hitting power to your army as flankers - I take 6 of them or occasionally 12 (6 * 2) usually with shields - dont bother with any command as they should be used in conjunction with other units

4: Personally i am not a fan of 10 man hobgoblin units and always take 20 - but there is varied opinion on this so whatever works for you

5: Add another bull centaur - 6 is the most cavalry models you can allways get into combat with the front of any ranked enemy unit and those 2 extra great wepon attacks will net you at least 1 extra kill / point of combat res that can make the difference

6: Warbanner - I would have this not on the Bull Centaurs but on 1 warrior unti and have the bsbs in the other unit - that gives both units static res of at least 5 and more likely 6 (with outnumber) plus if they are near each other and the general re-rollable Ld10 break tests
