posted this on warseer, wanted to post it here too:
So this weekend I played a doubles, 1200 points each and used my chaos dwarfs for the first time. I started taking pics, but the game turned out to be really close so forgot for a couple of turns. plus, because it was a doubles game I was concentrating more on my army and kind of lost track of what happened to my ally, so i’ll just post the general army lists and highlights.

You can see here the dwarf player enjoying some of bugman’s finest to muster up his courage before facing his dark kindred.
we got capture the flag (objective). giant metal statue of a futuristic ork in the middle of the battlefield.
So as not to get dragged into a turn by turn battle report i’ll just run through the highlights.
deployment basically cost us the game (i think). we fileded (from right to left) 2 khans, firglaives on hill, infernal guard, magma cannon behind them, clanrats, slaves, doomwheel, slaves, and to the far left plague monks with lightning cannon behind them. this cost us the game. our units were already not as powerful as his, and then we take our best unit and deploy it in the middle of nowhere. the plague monks did nothing all match except eat salamander fire and caught poisonos darts . . . with their bodies.
them, (from my right to left) cannon, unit of skinks with mage, dwarf warriors with characters, saurus, salamanders, skinks behind them with mage, and other cannon in corner. cameleons deployed beside khans to drop them.
we basically moved everything up and went straight for the objective. flame cannon i would say did well, easily earnings it’s points before the miners showed up behind it and killed it. both units of slaves died, one from combat (saurus) the other from combined fire power of sallys/cannons and skinks. skinks are AMAZING! with 2 shots each, poison! they killed one khan, several of my fire glaives, and almost my sorcer lord (he rolled amazing too though, on 20 shoots per unit he got on average 4-6 auto wounds). the clansmen were also incredible. by turn 3-4 they finally decided to come to objective, so my infernals showed them the flank, confident they would hold with stubborn castellan, and then set up my 12 fireglaives for a flank charge. he took the bait, charged my infernal guard, and i flanked him with my 12 fireglaives. what happened? we beat each other to death (like i said this was a close game and this was why i forgot to take pics) i was so sure, that fighting 20 infernal guard in the front, and getting flanked by 12 fireglaives would break them. but they didn’t!!! they held, long enough to kill BOTH UNITS!! yes, when we called it, all infernal guard were dead, all fireglaives were dead, my sorcerer lord was down to his last wound, and my castellan had to face his runelord, bsb and 2 remainig clansmen (he would have died, both his characters had 1+ rerollable with S6 weapons!).
(refer to all pics after 3)
here are some pics of his clansmen getting sandwiched. they will walk away from this, bloodied and bruised, but will walk away. you can see his newely arrived miners marching up our rear after killing the magma cannon.
after turn 1. we’re moving everything up. my skaven ally made an epic shot with his warp lightning cannon and killed one of the LVL 2 skinks this turn. his missils also dropped several saurus.
this is end of turn 2. here i moved my infernal guard up and to face left, looking like i wanted to help my ally (who got charged by saurus) but i really wanted him to charge them, get stuck in and then flank with fireglaives, well we all now how that ended.
so without spending my whole morning doing this, let me summarise what i learned about chaos dwarfs.
elite and expensive! i had 37 models total, my ally had over 120! and yes my guys are tough and have a good armour save, but if he inflicts wounds and causing me to roll i will fail them. lesson learned? bring more guys! this means forget about fireglaives (they are too expensive to stay back and shoot, and too expensive to fight, stick with regular infernal guard). bring hobgoblins! you need the bodies and the ranks.
chaos dwarf warmachines are good, bring more!
finally, did not get a chance to try anything good. because we were restricted to 1200 points, and as everybody knows, chaos dwarf core is over priced, i was kind of restricted. moving forward now, we have another game coming up (singles) 2400 hundred vs 2400 hundred. so now i’ll get a chance to bring a destroyer, maybe some fireburners and more warmacines.
hope you all enjoyed, CC welcome.
