I am officially 1-0 as a Chaos Dwarf general. I took the army i posted in the army list thread and i took lore of Metal for the level 2 caster.
My opponent was Dark Elfs:
Dreadlord with pendant combo in 24 spearmen
Lvl 4 caster with 25 xbowmen
cauldron
hydra
reaper bolt thrower
5 knights
20 xbowmen
24 xbowmen
20 spearmen
This is a rough guesstimate (he’s posting a video when it’s edited). If anyone is familiar with miniwargaming.com, i played Owen.
Initially i was going to have my lvl 4 in the unit of IG but i got scared and subbed in the lvl2 and kept the lvl 4 near my warmachines (thankfully so).
Keys to the battle for me were:
- not marching with my k’daii and letting his knights move up to take the charge
- beating his General’s unit through combat res in turn 2 and chasing that unit down
- holding up his hydra on a hill in the middle of the table with ash storm (in hind sight, i was really upset with myself as if i didn’t have that spell his hydra would have walked up the middle and destroyed me from the rear)
- the k’daii destroying 5 knights with only one casualty (the damage they cause to models in base contact is devastating)
- by the end of my turn 4, my k’daii were an inch away from the cauldron, my main unit were chasing a unit of xbowmen off the table, and his partial unit of spearmen were 12 inches away from my warmachines but were ash stormed in a bloodforest. in his turn 4, no charges and his sorceror miscast and rolled snake eyes on miscast chart and destroyed her unit. Owen conceded and I won $50.00 store credit.
Notes to self… OMG is the game ever different now compared when i last played in 6th edition…
- he made me play the chalice between cast and dispel for two reasons - i am the first chaos dwarf army in the two or three seaosns of battle reports (which i tried to explain is exactly why the item is frowned upon) and 2nd he reminded me that if i win i get 50.00… I am a student
So i bought some Warmachine figures
