Well, they pretty much have to. Sites like Mealstrom offer world-wide free shipping, lower prices, etc etc etc. No way GW can be competitive by charging retail AND shipping.
Keep in mind folks though that it is STILL most likely cheaper to get stuff from other retailers.

I can’t even remember the last time I ordered anything directly from GW since they dropped their bitz range, and the only thing I’m considering getting from any GW related company is the Lord of Change from Forgeworld, so I guess this means nothing to me.

I only order from them if i need bitz, or dark eldar… Otherwise i go to my shop, anyway i think they should just say “Free shipping for ever”. Better than them just giving it each month.

No they sell lots of stuff actually. Most common figure manufacturers.
Even GW Direct Only models, though these are more expensive than GW (as they run up to GW-HQ, buy them and ship them to you), but on a whole you'll end up ahead most likely.
