[Archive] Ghost chaos dwarfs

Grimstonefire:

So I’ve been thinking of late that it would be crazy but fun to paint some chaos dwarfs up as ghosts to mix into units.

The idea being that since the fall of the world (or before, whatever my fluff is), they fight on for hashut even in death!

Would this look strange, but in a good way?

Admiral:

Strange is good to Chaos! Just look at the 3rd edition range, not to mention the hat monstrosities and daemonforged insanity that came afterwards. :slight_smile:

Certainly a different army theme, and a neat tie-in with the End Times and the world that was for AoS CDs.

I think this would be even more marked if the living and the dead sported different styles, so that the ghosts seemed to wear ancient suits of armour and headgear no longer in vogue among the living.

Skink:

Hey, in Total War Warhammer King Belegar can count upon the help of three of his ghost ancestors (strong as hell by the way). I can´t see why your general can´t be helped by the spirits of his predecessors. You could even write your fluff upon it.

Now, do you think that a Chaos Dwarf would see ghosts as yet another resource to be exploited, or would pay them honor?

Zanko:

Do you mean something like that?!

BABIS:

this is a very intriguing idea :wink:

Grimstonefire:

@Zanko

Yep, but mixed in with living CD.  Just a few here and there.

Seems more appealing to me than painting up 200+ infernal guard mostly all the same!  haha

@Skink
That’s exactly where my inspiration came from actually, I’ve been playing as Belegar recently.

Hmm, enslaving ghosts?  Well… Nagash does it!  Enslaving the ghosts of your own race is pretty evil stuff, I was thinking of them more as volunteers!  Just too stubborn to fully die. :smiley:

Having said that, I’m not exactly clued up on the age of sigmar fluff. I know the gods who were not swallowed presumably could recreate their races as they see fit. So much like Nagash, if Hashut says you’re not done, then back to the battle front you go!

Why does it have to be a god that resurrects people? Can´t it be an artefact, or, as you said, the stubborn nature of Dwarfs? I mean, you could say that "My general -INSERT NAME HERE- retrieved the jemstone of Purple Hemmorrhoids, a long lost heirloom of his clan (eeewwwww). During the final battle against the Daemon of Splintered Coccyx he unleashed the full power of the artifact and managed to manifest the souls of his ancestors trapped within".

Rulewise you can simply use your ghost miniatures as Heroes.

Uther the unhinged:

Skink, the jewelstone of purple haemorrhoids? Retrieved from where? Brilliant, I have to make one of those…out of greenstuff honest. Rulewiseyou could use them as allies, anything from hosts of slaneesh, Daemonettes would be a good counts as

Zanko:

I think I’ll add some Ghost-Chaos Dwarves to the next Chaos Dwarf unit. I like the idea of just incorporating a few ghosts more and more. :smiley:
