Xander:
They donât need to be very large. But it would be nice to have some sweet pics for Border Town Burning to use! We can increase our reputation abroad as a fine forum that cares about everything Chaos Dwarf related!
torn:
I think the mechanical cart would be a better artisans contest entry, and the gaoler as a golden hat entry. that way it would focus on the ideas that went into the cart rather than the finished product, which makes it a more open contest. I dont think you could really judge a contest based on more than 1 model per entrant, deciding for GH5 was hard enough!
I have been looking through the pdf, and i think it is very well done and does deserve some of our attention. Im sure a lot of CDO members already have a nice set of models they could put together as a warband and take some pics of for BTBâs website.
I think a gaoler would make a good golden hat competition. you could even call it a âspecialist golden hatâ or something.
cianty:
Hi everyone,
I am delighted to see that you are taking interest in making the BTB warband list the theme for the next GH! And yes, I guess both sides benefit from this.
Usually Mordheim warbands start with 500 gold crowns to recruit the initial warband members. But I do not see a need to depict a starting warband - a developed warband that includes lots of Chaos Dwarfs (1 Sorcerer, 1 Bull Centaur, 2 Gaolers, 5 Chaos Dwarf henchmen and some enslaved fellas) is totally fine, if not preferable. I thought since most of you are Warhammer players anyways you wouldnât have a problem fielding these miniatures as they would be character models (for the Heroes) of your armies already. The interesting part is the deamon-powered prison wagon in which the warband keeps the captured enemy models, of course!
Once you have settled the modalities let me know so I can advertise the contest (and this site) on the Border Town Buring website.
Willmark:
Hi cianty.
No one is disagreeing with that but GH usually runs 6 weeks. 6 weeks can be difficult to fit in a large mordheim band.
Obviously the staff is discussing this.
Pyro Stick:
Well since this GH was for a standard bearer and it was the biggest turn out so far why dont you try a Champion next? I bet that will give an even bigger turnout.
torn:
pyro has a good idea, you dont want the momentum GH is building up to lose itself by having a model that isnt going to be popular with all gamers. Certainly everyone can easily put another unit champion in their army, and there is so much possibility for that.
But the gaoler and prison wagon are very cool ideas and something that hasnt actually been done before. This does make the competition more open but it also will put off those who dont really enjoy converting/modeling as much as painting, as it would be a big modeling project to make.
Possibly the BTB contest could be a longer contest, ending approx 2 weeks before they need the pictures, and running alongside golden hat. that would give people to put together warbands, not to mention creating and painting prison wagons. large models can take up a lot of time, i know my gorkamorka track took around 18 hours of painting, the sand colour base coat took 3 in itself.
As always im quite happy to run with whatever is decided on, but i thin 6 weeks isnt enough time for a prison wagon. especially for people who have a lot of âreal lifeâ commitments.
Xander:
We could do a Prison Wagon for Artisanâs #2, and Gaoler for GH#6?
Gaoler would essentially be a themed Chaos Dwarf Champion anyway.
At the end of both competitions we could have a separate vote for Best Warband pictures, wherein you include a small warband composed of models you already have in conjunction with the Gaoler and Wagon?
The winner of the Warband vote would get a unique medal, and like 100 slaves or something? We need to entice people, because right now, our current Artisanâs contest isnât attracting much attention, and I worry that people will forget about the Mordheim picturesâŚ
Hashutâs Blessing:
I defintely agree that a whole Mordheim warband wonât be easy. Also, I like the sentiment of the suggested idea (I canât remember whom by) of each person paints a model and the winner gets them all: unfortunately, models are too expensive for that really.
I defintely think we should have a gaoler as GHVI and prison wagon as AC2 (which I hope more people enter. Thus far, two entrants for AC1! More please. There is still a little time!) would work well. People can use the gaoler as a unit champion or hero or lord in their games or perhaps to start their own Mordheim or just for the fun of having a cool model. As for the remark about people disliking converting, weâre Chaos dwarfs and itâs our primary diet The website is built on sculpting
After both competitions, people can quickly make a list, add some experience etc if they want, put the models together, take the picture and we can flood BTB (so itâs not Burning too much :D) with them and they can pick the ones that they would like.
Maybe we should tally those that agree with this plan and those that donât?

I for my part almost did... almost. ;)

AC is all about a concept. Making/painting/drawing arenât necessary, but are welcomed. A few sentences/paragraphs on each ting is fine.

Congrats to the winers:cheers this one was especially hard to vote on.

Just realised: MANY people said they had ideas as to whoâs model is whomâs. Nobody has said who they thought each belonged to after the winner was announced. Letâs hear them!
