It was 52 in a smallish town at last countYeah, I've heard the claim in two different ways: that it has the most per square mile (or whatever) and/or that it has the most per capita. I can believe both, because it's a) small and b) has a population that almost doubles during term time. So you're looking at a town in which 50% of the population are students and, as anyone who's been there knows, there's literally a pub on every corner.
-thats excluding off licences, there are about 15 of them to (inc Supermarkets)

The awesome thing about Aberystwyth and its pubs is that I could name maybe five to ten establishments that, in any other town, would be my favourite place to drink. It's so easy to just reel off a list of great pubs and they're all within a mile of each other. Some are right opposite each other. Some I lived right across the road from. You can't beat that.
