[Archive] Has Anyone else done something this Geeky?

Lavindil:

So you know you play a lot of Warhammer when your doing laundry and you almost throw a mini in the washing machine…

Has anyone else done something like this or am I alone here :stuck_out_tongue:

Lavindil
While I don't do my own laundry :shy::shy::shy: (oh come on! I don't have a machine here at uni and mom knows way better than me how the one at home works)

... I have definitely had miniatures go through the laundry. Sometimes I dig into pockets or my backpack and pull out miniatures I didn't know I had.

So yeah, totally has happened.

Lavindil:

Good to know I’m not alone:cheers

Kera foehunter:

not a minni but some dice

Captain Crayon:

you’re not alone :stuck_out_tongue:

I found a forest goblin in the bottom of the washing machine along with the usual loose change and lighters.

I wonder if the washing counts as difficult terrain…

Baggronor:

I often find little bits of green stuff stuck to my socks where I’ve stepped on discarded flecks after I’ve been sculpting :cheers

two_heads_talking:

playing warhammer isn’t geeky, so I’m not sure what you are getting at mate!!

Swissdictator:

I pulled a mini for something else out of a pocket once.

The geekiest thing I’ve done was mod Star Trek Armada 1 to allow Star Trek, Babylon 5, and Star Wars to beat up on each other. The four factions were: Alpha Quad Alliance from the Dominion War (Feds, Klingons, Romulans), Interstellar Alliance (Earth, Minbar, Narns, and the League from B5), the Imperials, and the Borg.

The freaky thing: It worked. I even fixed the balance issues with fighter swarms by making weapons that were devastating (and rapidly firing) against fighters, but worthless against capital ships.

Joshmohr:

I can top that… one time i was making Ramen(Geek food) and accidentally threw a mini in boiling water… The ramen tasted of Bleach Bone. 0.-

Kera foehunter:

well last saturday i painted a cool hobgoblin figure of mine.

Note im painted !! i went to spray it with dull coat i was so happy best figure ever

went into the garage i put it on a box on my dad table saw when i turned the figure fell into the pile of saw dust !! yea

wallacer:

This is probably more stupid than geeky.

I had finished painting my CD BSB and went to varnish him. Unfortunately, the spray can I grabbed was actually Chaos Black.

You can guess the rest…

Dude thats fricken hilarious!!:)

Tarrakk Blackhand:

Well…better a mini fall victum to the washing machine than some paper money, especially $20’s and $50’s!

Never had the privaledge of spraying a mini with the wrong colour, but have spilled full bottles of glue across the hobby table. Ever see how wrinkly a vinyl tablecloth gets after that?

I never considered doing what I like to do “Geeky”. What type of term is that anyway? Something invented by brainless sports types to make people smarter or better off than them look stupid.

When I was a kid, I spent a lot of time with my dad building model kits and Balsa Wood Airplanes. I also took art and drama, photography and shop classes in school. I was also in the Boy Scout movement for years. Everyone was calling me “Geek” and “Nerd” in the days when it was more discraceful than now. (1980’s)

However, looking back on those days, I got to spend time with my dad, learn a lot of things about life, and appreciate hobbies that opened the door to a lot of things. I had a happy life while most of these sports freaks went home to their abusive alcoholic parents, silly go-no-where sports clubs that had abusive coaches yelling at the kids, and now these same kids as adults are in therapy to try and figure out why their relationships don’t work and why they can’t keep a job.

I, on the other hand, made my own career in hobbies at 30 years of age and it’s what I like doing. It’s not the best paying job in the world, but it’s more fun than anything and I meet exciting people, even TV stars. Therefore I’m glad to be a Geek, if that’s what you want to call me.

Lavindil:

I would call you a geek and I’m glad your proud… I am too:)

GRNDL:

I’m a professional geek, so I don’t get to do it at home. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have, however, done the spray paint mix up, except it was white on freshly painted Eldar Howling Banshees. It is not a fun experience. I don’t consider it a geek thing, as things like that can happen to lots of people: artists, chefs (salt instead of sugar), etc.

Tarrakk Blackhand:

Actually, if you want my definition of a “Geek”, it’s anyone who’s so trapped in one thing that they can’t see anything else.

Guys (And Girls) who might play 1 card game and know EVERY card in full detail, going right back to the first card that the company ever produced and acting as if the card was someone they knew personally. And the game is ALL they ever talk about! Period!

Same can be said about these sports guys that only like Hockey or Nascar and can only see Hockey or Nascar, even having Hockey rooms in their houses with wallpaper in the matching colour and only drive a car in the colour of their team. In fact, guys that won’t buy a car unless Darrel Waltrip tells them too in a TV Commercial.

That’s the calibure I’m talking about for Geek.

Joshmohr:

I dont know WHY i ate the ramen, tho.

Guess who got the stomach flu?

Kera foehunter:

thanks!! im not a GREEK!!!

Wallacer well at least if was black

Hashut’s Blessing:

I’ve almost thrown a model in the bin instead of a chocolate wrapper. Many times lol :stuck_out_tongue:
