CopperPot:
So according to COTEC WoC players are expecting a new army book(rumours have it before Xmas) I want to include a Hellcannon in my list for what it is a Monster that fights and can shoot(rerolls etc) people believe that it will become just a warmachine that cannot move.
I’m intrested in everyone’s general thoughts and feelings on the subject, so my question is how will this new Hellcannon fit into our lists if it happens.
I know these are just rumours and it might not happen but their will be a new book and might be new rules for our Hellcannon.

MLP:
Yeah following on warseer I’ve heard about the same, Q3 apparently. The guys on there with these rumours have been pretty accurate in the past.
I’m hopin it will stay pretty similar, I think I will stay as a monster/cannon similar the the Ogre one(can’t remember the name) that can move around.
I reckon it’ll still have the daemonsmith reroll, at least with LoA lists and until they update the Tamurkhan FAQ it will be.
I do reckon it will suffer a drop in strength though as most templates have in new books.
Grimbold Blackhammer:
Warriors of Chaos is about the glory of hand-to-hand combat in the eyes of their Gods and chaos monsters. There’s no honor in pushing a button so I don’t see it changing unit-type. Besides, it’s always been a monster…
Xander:
Guess I will have to wait until this new book to build my WoC! Haha, always a reason to delay.
Thommy H:
I doubt they’ll drop the monster aspect altogether - it’s ability to eat people alive and grind people up with its wheels is well established in its background, and fits with the model. War machines are only as powerful in combat as their crew, so changing it to a more “normal” unit would mean a major reduction in its combat abilities.
So, either it’ll have some suite of special rules that make it able to fight in combat (a la its old Storm of Chaos rules), or it’ll stay something like what it is. There’s already precedent in recent books for monsters that have a stone thrower attack, btw - the Cygor and the Thundertusk both do it. The Hellcannon doesn’t look at all like a relic at the moment, except for having Monster and Handlers which I’m thinking may be getting phased out in favour of the way crew for the Arachnarok, Warsphinx et al work as the new books replace the old.
CopperPot:
So people are still using the rules from WoC army book for the Hellcannon, its just I’ve seen threads on the Hellcannon using the storm of chaos rules have I missed an update when they released it in finecast in white dwarf.
Thommy H:
No, it uses the WoC rules. The Storm of Chaos rules barely even make sense in 8th Edition.
Far2Casual:
… and are completely broken.
The Hellcannon will stay as it is now I’d say, only the catapult will be nerfed the same way all the other have. Expect a S4 stone thrower at best, maybe even worse. If they nerf the Strength of the catapult, it really can stay as it is now, it’s hardly broken.
And it will give us a reason to use the mortar
