[Archive] Hellcanon Finecast

Alakihel:

Hi all !

I just saw this rumour which seems to be confirmated by some players on Warseer.

http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?333641-March-Releases&p=6097948#post6097948

They also said that it will cost 45.50,

Apparently the Hellcanon will be done in Finecast for the 17th of March.

Even if there is no real confirmation by pictures or something else, what are your opinions on this rumour if it become true.

Cheers,

Alakihel.

furrie:

My guess is that its just the current version done in finecast.

hobomcg:

The current version of the hellcannon is ‘no longer available’ which suggests it is being reworked into finecast.

Thommy H:

Yeah, I’d stake my not inconsiderable reputation on it being the same model in Finecast.

Discoking:

Funny it’s coming out on March 17th…

As I’d literally have to be drinking all day to spend that much money…

On a model that I’d only get for the crew! haha!

Here in the Netherlands its still available through the gw website

vulcanologist:

I’m sure it will still be a bitch to put together whatever it’s made from!

gIL^:

The price on that is ridicules for Resin.

Wasn’t GW line to switch to Resin to cut costs? I think their taking us for a ride with this.

Murdock129:

What a wonderful birthday present this will be -_-

What do you need the crew for ?

Coopervisor:

I may be tempted to pick this up in finecast as assembling it in metal has put me off before. My only concern is it doesn’t really fit with the current FW imagery :S

Vogon:

I have a metal one that I bought when they first came out way back when in the storm of chaos campaign. It’s still in its box unassembled after attempting to dry fit it together and realising just how big some of the gaps that needed filling were.

I may get round to it some time but I hope the resin is of better quality

nilbog:

I might well be wrong, but don’t finecast models use the same mold as the metal models used to? So a finecast hellcannon would be just as much of a pain to put together as a metal one?

Vogon:

No they’ve re-jigged the moulds to accommodate finecast, also resin is less likely to warp as it cools (not being a hot process) the way large metal pieces do.

furrie:

Even if the gaps are eqauly big, you can bent them much easier so it fits better.

nope, they will just melt in the sun and warp in the car. hopefully they dont snap when they accidentally snag on something. the good thing is we can take off mold lines with a a gentle scrub of a toothbrush... yes a gw rep said finecast mold lines can be removed with a toothbrush. glad to know they will hold up during gaming:~.

but at least that's *after* it's been assembled and painted ;)

Thanks to the fact that I?Tm building a FW army I?Tve not yet had much exposure to finecast yet and I have no plans for expanding any of my other armies at the moment so I may not get any for quite a while.

Hopefully they?Tll have sorted any issues by then.

Im not trying to be a negative but i need to warn the people who don’t know but ive had 6 Finecast models. 2 casket of souls, Lammasu, 2 Dark Emissary and Cockatrice.

2 were so bad (Casket of Souls & Dark Emissary) i took them back to the shop and the staff looked like i was picky, The second Casket of souls was bad also i mean holes everywhere! I went back and just got my money back.

Cockatrice and Lammasu are ok, But when i say ok, They still had holes, So i have had a 84% failure run with finecast, The second Dark emissary was perfect.

I just can’t buy a hellcannon with finecast ive been burned to many times by it.

JonJon:

Hi all another issue with finecast is that  the resin is bad for you, make sure to wash and base coat quickly and if you sand and cut the moldlines off wash up after,Im mainly talking to those of us with children, but be careful if your hobby room is real small with poor vents. Im lucky  I have a big Mancave, and I do most of my painting and modeling on the dining room table so I have to clean everything imediatly before my wife comes home

And so they do. Your mistake is in thinking the benefit was intended for you as the consumer and not the company and it's owners.

You are correct for normal resin. I seem to recall Finecast is in this regard less dangerous. That should have been one of things they've had a look at when making this resin formula.
Not that I want to breath any kind of dust, be it plastic, metal or resin.
