I love this army, and I’m thinking about collecting the models. I do not have the book at this point though. A couple things concern me? Is the general consensus that Forgeworld is going to stop making the models? Is general consensus that GW will stop allowing Chaos Dwarfs as an official army? And what’s this talk about the book going out of print? I know there are probably no firm answers on these questions, but any advice would be appreciated.
I do not own the book because of fears of investing into the army? But here is what I am thinking of without knowing exact point values. Please let me know if this sounds possible at 3000 points. I may be a little over. Thanks so much for the help!
Level 4 wizard lord -Talisman Pres
Level 1 engineer dude -Scroll
Level 1 engineer dude
Castellan BSB
39 IG w/ Fireglaives (full command)
10 IG w/ Fireglaives
Magma Cannon
Magma Cannon
Magma Cannon
Iron Demon
Iron Demon
K’Daii Destroyer
A couple questions on the army include: is the wizard lord guy also an engineer, or is that only the level 1? Can the IG take a magical standard? What’s the verdict on the Chalice item? I might just not mess with it because it is totally broken and the rules are stupid. I don’t mind building hyper-competitive lists to play against my friends who also have hyper-competitive lists, but I am not going to play degenerate items that are insanely good because of poorly-written rules.
First, all spell casters are engineers in the army except those on mounts. Second, one unit of IG per army may take a magical standard worth up to 50pts. On the army I would take a second lv 1 deamon smith to aid with the warmachines take lore of fire on both so fire ball can take out skirmisher scouts or small fast cav. units that try to attack the magma cannons

Thanks for the input. Upon thinking about the list further, I was considering hording up one of the IG units into a 40 horde block, and then adding a little unit of 10 IG to run on the side to shoot down chaff and fill out the core requirement. This shores up about 150 points which would hopefully allow for another level 1 wizard guy. Thoughts?
Nice list. The only issue I see is that the majority of the army wants to sit back as a gun line, while the destroyer wants to move forwards (usually), unsupported if no one else joins.
If so inclined, would suggest squeezing in khan or two somehow to help out the k’daii, one with a decent magic weapon (fan of the fear one) to deal with ethereal units that tie up the k’daii. Also good for getting in the way of large units that could shred the k’daii like gut star or witch/executioner horde that somehow evades war machine fire or kill off cheap characters with 2+ ward saves. Could also mop up units too small for the destroyer to kill or ones already fleeing, or could try their hands at war machine hunting. Normal wolf raider make similar, if less effective and more expensive/hilarious alternatives.
I’d suggest dropping an engineer in this case to make room for points. You do not really need one wizard per war machine, 2 should suffice for 3 machines. Ruby ring of ruin on one of the wizards for double fireball could work to an extent
You’ll want at least one Deathshrieker, that Demolition shell is very important for bringing down enemy monsters, chariots, war machines, etc. 3 Magma Cannons may also make it hard to have pleasant games, for you and your opponents, they are horrendously powerful; perhaps swap one out or even two? I usually choose one Magma, one Deathshrieker and a Hellcannon. More variety and overall its better, the Hellcannon makes a good rearguard plus its much harder to kill than the other artillery pieces and the auto-panic test it causes is brilliant.
That army comes in at exactly 3k, well 2998 so close enough.
However, if you are overly concerned about the army being discontinued you could always just make your own war machines, including irondemons and really save on cost (maybe thats kind of the reason warhammer forge is being discontinued). The only troops you really need to get from Forgeworld are the Infernal Guard (which are great) and the heroes (also great) additionally you can always use the war machines and the infernal guard to represent regular Dwarfs.
Lastly, I do not know much for fact on weather or not Chaos Dwarves are going to be discontinued; however, just from this forum one can summarize that Chaos Dwarves/LoA is warhammer Forges most selling line and will likely continue for a while. If not then you have at least all of 2015 to play LoA before you have to run them as something else/have them be unoffical playing one army for a year straight is pretty hard too you might be sick of them after a few months :P.

I just want to say? That is INSANE that this list is 2998 points! I tried to estimate without having ever seen the book; I used the information I learned from YouTube reviews of the army and battle reports. Thankfully I now have the book as of about 3 hours ago.
Thanks for the insight, everyone! The comments are very helpful, because I obviously don't know what I'm doing yet. I play Vampire Counts primarily, so I am not familiar with using ballistic skill or war machines.
