[Archive] Hobgoblin Head Project: Passing the torch - selling the mould! [2/13-15]

snowblizz:

If I'm not vastly mistaken the European Union is already a free trade area. UK is a part of the European Union.
I assume Scotland would have remained a part of the EU? Then nothing would have changed.

Onyx
Yes free trade is basically what the EU is. There are exceptions though, more on that later.
UK is part of the EU, but an independent Scotland would not be. Now we don't exactly know since none of this had been in any way decided, talked about or considered other than vague promises of "it'll work out", but eg Spain was not happy to encourage such "have your cookie and eat it" moves.
However, within the EU there are certain areas that have exceptions from the Common VAT area, the channel islands are one, as is the place where I live(d). Which in practice makes these areas "third countries" with regards to EU customs and tolls, specifically because their local economies are so deeply built on the sale of tax free basically.
Just to give another perspective, friend of mine just sent some stuff to me on the mainland because he risked getting hit by a double VAT charge if the seller didn't "export" the product properly.

Hobgoblint:

Gosh those heads are lovely, I really like them.
Trouble is there doesn’t seem to be a suitable body for them.
The armoured plastic storm vermin body is all wrong for them.
What other body options are there out there for those heads?

There are regular goblins. Flaggelants for a very worn slave look. Marauders for a strong, badass look. Perhaps LotR urukhai or hunter orcs. I'm currently waiting on some Fireforge Miniatures mogol warriors, they have great potential. But I'm worried they might be too small. The thing about Fireforge Miniatures is that they are generally a bit larger, compared to other historicals.

And then there is Mantic orcs and mantic goblins of different kinds.

Admiral:

Good summary, Bloodbeard. There are also Plague Monks.

Admiral
And regular clan rats.

Bloodbeard
If you think Fireforge are big, don't go near the Gripping beast plastics (which are lovely) because they are bigger than Fireforge.

I have the otherworld Hobgoblins and the old GW skinnies, but now I'm going to get some of these ...

Head swaps could work very nicely with these as well.

DannyDevtio :

I’d be highly interested in these.

Bloodbeard:

Glad to see new members also wanting this. Here’s an update on the project.

Danny Roper at DWR plastics is going to travel for a month in asia and australia, leaving on the 30th. He’s written me, that it’s not sure the molds will be done before departure. This is because he has quite the back cataloque of orders to go through, and he’s teaching he brohter to take care of part of his business.

The hobgoblin head mold is a very small job for him (yet still takes time), so I understand and respect the need to priorities. Fingers crossed he’ll get the mold done.

Admiral:

Haha, we’ve waited this long, surely we can wait some months more if need be. Roper should take his time. Still, fingers crossed for speed.

I guess patience would have been more of an issue for me if I had planned to build and use Hobgoblin units soon, though. My army lists usually aims at minimal model count whilst the collection is under slow construction, and Hobgoblins don’t eat points. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for keeping us updated, Bloodbeard.

Hobgoblint:

I want to field an entire Hobgoblin army so I can play test it in Armies of Arcana.

Thats why the bodies are a priority for me.

After a second, third and 4th look… I think I’ll definitely go for Head swaps on a percentage of the Battleforge models because the bodies and arms and most importantly, the raiment are in keeping with the original GW design much more than the plastic torso options from other troops types which will look plain silly when put next to the original GW Hobgobs I have.

Bloodbeard:

Update

The moulds are finished and will ship to Denmark in a couple of days after payment is finalized. Shipment includes 1 kg of high quality resin and should give out around 2000 heads for sale. Stay tuned.

Great news!

Twisted Dwarf:

I have 100 headless goblins awaiting these!!!

Let's just hope the heads are not too big for your taste then. Let's await the comparison shots. :)

Of course, gobbo bodies could be lengthened by adding waist and perhaps some more to the legs.

Bloodbeard, would you please like to use a Goblin body as well, if it wasn't already on the list?

Bloodbeard:

Sure. I should have one lying around. No size problem here though. Goblin heads have prettt much the same size.
