[Archive] Hobgoblin Infantry WIP

Tarrakk Blackhand:

Hi everyone!

Here’s 3 pictures of my conversion work, so far, on The Battle For Skull Pass Night Goblins.

The conversion wasn’t hard, it just involved a lot of sawing, sanding and glueing.

This is a comparison photo of the extended Hobgoblin and the regular Night Goblin. I “raised” 10 Night Goblins and left the rest at the normal height. I figure that Hobgoblins would be different heights.

Also, I clipped off and filed down their pointed hats and shortened their spears, replacing the point with an axe head from the Tomb Kings and Good Dwarfs. This gives them a distinctive hand weapon.

Here’s a small group of 20 Hobgoblins converted from the Night Goblins in The Battle For Skull Pass Fantasy Set from Games Workshop. I still have to paint these and add some Greenstuff to their shields and some of their torso’s.

This is the second group of 20 Hobgoblins. The front line guys still have to be converted. They still have their pointed hoods.

I’ll also have to remove some of the Night Goblin details, such as the banner icons and alter the musical instruments to make them not look so “Night Gobliny”.

Soon, these 40 little runts will become my Hobgoblin Infantry once I have painted them. :idea

wallacer:

Nice. Simple enough to not take an eternity to complete, effective enough to make it clear they’re a distinct unit. Good job.

Khunag:

The way they hold their axes is a bit strange, with the blades above their heads. Might be a good idea too cut off the dwarven runes from the axes too (of course you can always say they took them from fallen enemies  ).

Kera foehunter:

great uni tof hobies! mr t

Groznit Goregut:

I’ve been looking for a good way to make hand weapons out of the BfSP night goblins. Consider this idea stolen!

Tarrakk Blackhand:

ThanX everyone!

The axes are turned in above their heads because they are doing a “Rallying Call” before attacking the enemy, a way to instill fear. I’m thinking of leaving the Dwarf Runes on the axes because they are re-used items from various plunders of war.

There’s still more work to do though.

tjub:

Looks great, but why do all the axes pont in the same direction?

Tarrakk Blackhand:

See my above post. ^

Hazkar:

nice,did mine the same way

(i also did some new legs and gave them other feet)

nice and simple conversion

i have to agree with khunag, the axes look a little bit strange, but all in all cool minis

tjub:

See my above post. :D ^

Tarrakk Blackhand
Ah... ;)

Kera foehunter:

so is this group going to be painted the same as your others mr t

Tarrakk Blackhand:

Yes Kera, they’ll all be wearing the typical (For me) Testor’s 1172 Flat Sea Blue cloaks and have Testor’s Orange and Steel Axes. They’ll also be painted Zinc Chromate Yellow to match their Hobgoblin brothers.

(I think my post was moved from Chaos Dwarf Discussion to Conversions, but I could be mistaken.)
