Admiral:
Hi!
As we all know, the new Warhammer Forge Chaos Dwarfs come with horns (Iron Daemon crew example). What do you think of them? Do they fit in? Will you keep the horns on the FW models you may buy? Will you even give your other CDs horns?
Also, I’m currently sculpting a Chaos Dwarf woman, and I’ve had cause to ponder upon giving her horns. Should she have horns like the males likely will have, or should she be without horns? (One may interpret the horns as Hashut’s mark; and cows don’t come with horns, only bulls.) What is most fitting? I’ll like the result whatever it’ll be, so I’m all open for reasoning and advice here.
(Personally, I’m split on the issue of horns for Chaos Dwarfs. At first I did not like them, but as I knew they would, they have dawned on me. The horns make them look like devil smiths, which is not bad. They may disrupt the Hellcannon crewman look I’m planning for the army, however.)
Let’s hear what you think. :hat

Hm, that thread didn't show up on search. Might have missed it. But anyhow, thanks! I'll take a dip into it.

Almost all types of cows have horns in both sexes, but they are often removed from females used for farming.

I've actually help in this practice (born on a farm). The logic is that they reduce damage to the animals when they fight or carry out mating 'dances'. They do also remove them from the men to as they tend to fight over the ladies if there is more than one in a field. Others simply only put one bull / field (actually easier that way).
And boy does scorched horn STINK!
Da Crusha:
after burning the horns, does it prevent the cows from growing horns indefinitely?

Pretty much, they normally grow little bumps.
This of it as cauterising a wound.

You’ve just proved that cows are a type of troll

Was it ever up for debate? ;P

I have to say I like the horns. Remember we are CHAOS Dwarfs afterall. It isn’t innapropriate for us to have some mutation. I will keep to horns on my Characters, and prolly unit champs. Bring back some of our roots and bring on the mutations. I have been a CD player from when they were available and only now have had this resource, thanks btw. So I always figured that the warping effects of chaos touched us in a similar way, the pominent tusk, Bull Cenetaurs, the sorcerer’s curse. Just a few example

Thank you all for an interesting discussion. One is never too old to learn new facts about cows.

Agreed. Also, looking through the original thread, I think I’ll keep the horns on some, and remove them from most, Chaos Dwarfs. Now, it’s only approriate to make a mutant (“Forsaken”) CD unit, as a kind of underclass Chaos Dwarfs (that is, those that Chaos went real fickle with). There are some nice old mutations on GW archive minis and from the Blood Bowl range (mainly Skaven).
Off-topic: A friend of mine have decided to, in the not-to-distant future, start a WoC/CD hybrid army, using the Chaos Dwarfs as Marauders (on approriate bases), and a Lammasu as Chaos Dragon. Chaos Warriors will be ordinary human Chaos Warriors. It sounds like an interesting plan. Do you know if something like this has been done before? He’ll have to tackle the CD’s larger bases, possibly by making them all a bit scenic.
Baraz Gorechain:
I’d probably go the other way around, making chaos warriors and knights CD and BC respectively. What self respecting dwarf, chaos or otherwise, would wear less armour then some northern manling?

Good point, I'll forward it to him. :cheers
And having Chaos Warriors as Chaos Marauders whilst the Chaos Dwarfs take place as Chaos Warriors does drive home the unquestionable fact that Dwarfs are simply the best.
Abecedar:
as a 3rd edition fan, I’ll stick with the horns as a whole trend.
