[Archive] How did they sculpt fire, back in the 80's?

Borador:

I am wondering how Citadel/Marauder and the like sculpted fire round about 2nd edition Warhammer Fantasy.

Does anyone have any reference pictures?

Thanks in advance (:

G.2:

I can suggest some.

FA6-2 Bard with Sword and Lute (August 1981)

FA37 Questing Ranger with Torch and Sword (possibly 1981)

Space Ork from 1991

Borador:

Thanks, that will be helpful I think!

In a word, "poorly."

The world of miniature sculpting is night and day different than 2-3 decades ago.

Borador:

I know :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It’s mainly for reference, need to sculpt something 80’s to fit the overall look of my army

Admiral:

Golden Hat K’daai, right? It’s good that you try to follow the style of the rest of the army, although I personally follow the simple rule of painting everything in a coherent colour scheme. Size variation and models from different eras will all join ranks with the right painting.

Borador:

Yeah GH it is, indeed. Normally, I would apply that rule as well, but with my 1980’s models I’d rather go for the same overall style as well as the same colour scheme.
