Dînadan:
Don’t know if all the minis are like it, but going by the side-on-view photo on the FW site it looks like there is a gap under the helmet, so it’s possible the gap is large enough for them to fit food up there; it’d be awkward, but not impossible, and if push comes to shove it’d definitely be big enough to fit a straw up there so maybe they have all their food blended and drink it?
Admiral:
Soup and straw. With ash in the soup and other liquids (blood, beverage), since they’re outcasts. That’s my guess.

Admiral:
Think we've found the subject of your next short story Admiral ;PFurthermore, I think it'd be common for Chaos Dwarf armies to bring with them stocks of bile, gastric acid, urine and similar foul liquid substances from who-knows-what creatures. Add a little ash, perhaps some pepper, speak a curse on the bottles and hand them out in the Infernal Guard units before battle. After a meal of that you can be sure the Infernal Guards will be ready to lay down their lives for Hashut and Prophet, and they'll also be in the right mood for killing lots of foes in extremely brutal ways. ;)
Dînadan
Veshnakar:
Perhaps Hashut sustains them. Same as Chaos Warriors are sustained by their false gods? To quote the old WoC book “Chaos warrior needs no food, drink or sleep, for he is nourished by carnage that he wreaks.”
Dînadan:
Furthermore, I think it'd be common for Chaos Dwarf armies to bring with them stocks of bile, gastric acid, urineMore commonly known as slaves - why bother lugging around bottles and jars of the stuff when you have a ready supply on hand (and almost unending the case of the last one :P)?
Admiral
Admiral:
@Veshnakar: Nice thought, though Hashut is such a small Dark God it’s a tad hard to imagine it. But it would solve some supply problems for sure, as would getting nourishment from closeness to fire.
@Dînadan: Haha, true enough, though one could imagine some creatures in the Warhammer world have a particularly nasty acid or liquid in their bodies’ glands and organs that are sought after as an especially bitter drink to the outcasts before battles. For particularly important clashes, or maybe due to some omen, a Sorcerer-Prophet might want to issue such extra foul “milkshakes” to the Infernal Guards. But otherwise they’ll have ready supply of vile drinks from the slaves, yes. :sick
Normal Chaos Dwarf warriors wouldn’t ever have to sustain themselves by the worst Infernal Guard diet… unless some Prophet’s whim or punishment calls for it.
Geist:
I had a thought about dawi zharr the other day. I am more than willing to bet that there diet can not handle any vegetables. Or at least in the normal sense ie no greens no salads only hard harsh or spicy veggies. A very heavy meat diet if not all meat.
Admiral:
Yep, I think you’re on the right track Geist. Meat, and flesh even. Slave flesh.
cornixt:
Root vegetables tend to last well after digging up, so I’m sure they can import a lot of them without too much trouble. Fruit would be the one thing they probably lack, except maybe figs and olives since those kinds of trees grow well in conditions like that of near the Dark Lands.
Time of Madness:
They just drink beer like their cousins
Time of Madness
Yodrin:
They crush their raw meat and put it into a dark bear and drink it…
Admiral:
Meat/flesh, spicy vegetables, particularly lots of root vegetables and beer is also how I think of CD cuisine, along with ash and other nutjob ingredients. And bread, because dark bread always goes well with Dwarfs in general, and CDs can do with that hark-back to ancient Mesopotamia. Both loaves and flatbread, and not just cereal bread but also made on mushrooms like Thommy H came up with.
All these things would have to be mashed in liquid (blood, beer, bouillon, fouler stuff) and served through a straw for Infernal Guards. Speaking of which, this discussion has made me re-realize the FW models lack breathing holes or slits in front of their mouths and ears.
But as Dînadan points out it would be possible to insert a straw under the “ridge” in the middle of their helmet, from beneath the chin.
TheHoodedMan:
Some say the infernals suck the brain of their opponents after crushing their heads. For this purpose they carry a small metal tube at their belts.
But Im sure that
s only a rumor…

But I`m sure that`s only a rumor...

TheHoodedMan:
Thank you.
But what do you mean with joke. That was serious ;).
Admiral:
Thank you.Yes, though it was worded like a joke. It's both funny in a grotesque way and very fitting for CDs. Humour and seriousness hand in hand. :hat off

torn:
I think we can probably say that bit of fluff was written in without any real thought. In any case surely the face plates of the helmets would be removeable? in some arcane chaos dwarf helmet construction. Otherwise how would they keep their beards groomed?
Skink:
Nonsense. When the Lazy Moonz attacked the Black Fortress, and the citadel itself was cut out from all supply routes, my troops fought days long with just a barrel of Dark Bugman XXXXXX in their bellies. That thing is higly nutritive!
