[Archive] How I start my adventure with chaos dwarfs

Glimpse the Void:

Really cool stuff. I especially liked the heroes and iron demon. I like the idea about using the pin heads as rivets and may steal that idea…

zobo1942:

Be careful when clipping the head off the pin - the rest of the pin will go flying.

I’ve found sticking the pin in a large eraser, then position the clippers, then put your opposite hand’s index finger on the pinhead, then clip is a good way to remove them without the sharp pieces going flying all over the room.

Abecedar:

Thanks for that tip Zobo. I done that dozens of times.

Rusek:

Hi, today i want to show you my first painted minis for my army. It isn’t clasical painting scheme, because i want have winter dawi (but i will make bases when i’ll finish all my unit). I’ll do rivets on iron daemon soon because tomorow i’ll go to the shop for smaller drills.

Admiral:

Cool indeed! They look like cruel torturers and headtakers. Very nice style, and the too-narrow slimness of the Chaos Warrior helmets is less obvious with your conversions. Well done, and great colour scheme.

Abecedar:

Ditto. They look good

AtomTaylor:

Nice work Rusek.

This message was automatically appended because it was too short.

Rusek:

Hi, its my first dwarf hero painted  I even made “free hand” i know it isn’t perfect but i’ll try make better on my BSB

Abecedar:

That’s a good use of that model. Well done.

Though I’m not sure of the blue. To me it smacks to much of being a Vanilla dwarf colour.

Rusek:

This color isn’t blue, it’s turquise. This is sotek green which i washed by biel-tan green and then i highlighted it by mix sotek green with white. Photos made with the flash lamp change color a ilttle  but its true they aren’t look like clasical red badass

Admiral:

Both blue and turqoise are very tasteful colours, though, and they still look malignant even in the colder colour.

Rusek:

I could be truth  now i’m painting taurukh, i fish skin and now i’m making armour… And it dosen’t look good so far, but now i won’t changed main colour for my whole army

Rusek:

Hi, today i want to show you my home made bolt thrower and also i finished iron daemon. What do you think about it :D?

Admiral:

Very nice! The rivets and runes makes the plow pop. Just the details that were needed. And the ballista looks particularly good with the string. Great work so far, and good luck working turqoise into every model. Do you plan to add that colour to the Iron Daemon somewhere, too?

Rusek:

Good question, i was thinking about it. But i don’t know which part i could paint… meaby plow?

Fuggit Khan:

Agreed, the rivets are a great touch. I like that you built the Iron Daemon literally from a train engine...what scale is the engine? HO scale?
I'm looking forward to seeing these painted...the all black primer against the black background pics makes it a bit hard for my eyes to see all the details, but it really looks very promising :hat off

Abecedar:

The hobgoblins or the goblins?

Fuggit Khan
Same here. looks quite promising.

Admiral:

The plow could be a good candidate for turquoise, or perhaps the roof, or perhaps some side panels. Or perhaps several of them?

Rusek:

@Fuggit Khan, yup it’s H0 scale. I promise that next photos will be better

@Admiral, i don’t know yet but some parts certainly will be turquise

Rusek:

I’m back  Today i want to show you my lamassu/k’daai destroyer. I know that it should have wings but i haven’t got them and i can’t wait becouse i’m taking part i painting competition in my local shop (we need to paint models to AoS and make diorama for them).

Here is firt finished skull :hat
