[Archive] Ideas on making some Bull Centaurs?

beefcake:

I’m not quite sure if this is the correct place for it but what would be the best way to bash together some bull centaurs. I have some Marauder horses. Would shortening the legs make them look more bullish? How easy is it going to be? I’m good enough with GS to do a bit of mending to things etc. Any thoughts or threads that could be helpful?

Thanks in advance.

MLP:

Dwarf Ponies from the old box set have been used here http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=51.

It depends on the look you want. They’re meant to be on 50mm bases so I think they need to be pretty big to look decent, like dragon ogre size I reckon. I think they’re meant to be released sometime this year from Warhammer Forge.

ryanamandaanna:

I used Chaos Knight mounts for the lower body, which fit pretty well on the 50mm bases.

JMR:

There has been someone who has used Marauder Horsemen horses, but I can’t really remember who. I think it might’ve been Bolg? Old metal dwarf slayers were used for the top half. I also remember someone showing how he was shortening the horses legs to make it more bull-like.

I can’t help you with a link, but maybe you can find it with the search engine.

Hope this helps.

Perturabo:

Depends if you want to use the Warhammer Forge list or not. If not they’d be on standard cavalry bases, so shortening and bulking up some horses might work. Otherwise it might be a case of looking for suitably sized toys. The body from the Wood Elf stag mount would probably look good, but it’s probably not that practical for a whole unit.

Zanko:

I used the Bodys of the Impact Miniatures and some upper parts of 3rd edition guys and Reaper ones!

That’s the result with which I’m quite pleased:

For my bull centaurs I use the boars from the current boar boyz/savage orc boar boyz and Black orc bodies and a good bit of green stuff to get the orc bodies in the right place and sculpt armour onto the boar bodies

Plus there are these Mantic models:

Thanks for the responses. I may have a go at chopping up some marauder horses and maybe adding some bits and pieces to them to bulk them out. Some awesome suggestions there thanks heaps everyone.

thomasthefinch:

I’ve just ordered some of the new Savage Orc Boars, Marauder bodies and flails, chaos warrior heads, and a whole heap of green stuff.

SafetyTurtle:

Personally I’m converting up some BCs using Juggernaughts with ogre torsos…may not fit the “lore” as such but personally think it fits the base size and profile.

Plus, it looks good ^^

Yeah I think that sounds a bit more correct to be honest. Are you making the Ogre bodies dwarfy with beards? Sort of freak show dwarfs?

I saw some pretty cool conversions that were minotaurs on top of jugganaughts, they worked really well.

rpitts2004:

I used the tops of the avatars of war plastic berserkers and then cut the heads off some chaos warhounds and added some green stuff, looks good i’ll try to post some pictures later

Cobra7:

You could try Ogre torso’s on Juggernaut bodies.

Not sure if this is an original idea or one I picked up somewhere. However all credit goes to Brian Steele over at Ursa’s Den.

SafetyTurtle:

thomasthefinch: nah, more like mechanical dragon ogres…something like a daemonsmith seeing dragon ogres and thinking “I like it, but I can improve on the design”.

I think that the ogres torsos on juggernaughts looks right for monstrous beasts but personally I was leaning towards the minotaurs conversion that you mention. Can you show us any links to these conversions?

Anyway, I am waiting for FW's release to see if it will be worth the price. If it is not, it will either be ogre or minotaur torsos on juggernaughts.

beefcake:

Those juggernaughts look cool but I prefer them to look more organic than mechanical. Anyone know of good seller of bulls suitable to chop up and put some ogre tops onto.

moogoodoo:

i use chaos warrior horse bodies with chaos worrier torso and black orc arms and ogre heads they look the part now i have gs some beards

I just received a bull taurus in the post today. Ashamedly it’s my first CD miniature, after 65 posts, granted I did buy it after about 5 posts. I was thinking that, if I could get my hands on another one, the body of it would make an awesome BC Hero Taur’ruk. I also have some really old farmyard animal bulls kicking around too. If I get enough of them they could look the part too, lopping off limbs etc and I’m sure they would be fairly cheap and lots of companies would make them.
