That's why I edit WOH... attention to detail ;)

I'd say, make sure he can't access your online banking then :P or you'll have the wealthiest toddler in Rochester with the poorest parents. lol

OK, that is the right Gorilla Monsoon, although the quality of the sample is terrible. It’s like they’ve taken out all the bass, which is kind of the point of Stoner-Doom.

So much wrong in this thread. Here’s my take on it all. The original emo was around before grunge, and would be best described as a form of punk rock. Nirvana weren’t the first grunge band, although they were the first to break the genre into the mainstream, albeit in a more commercialised form. Lots of non-grunge bands were lumped into the genre, along with the awful hair-metal bands who jumped into the scene to make money (ironically their jock-rock was what grunge was railing against). When grunge faded, emo was still underground but had picked up new influences. When it got closer to the mainstream (which took a long time, and it never really hit in the same way as grunge did) the music was far closer to pop-punk like the Offspring and metal bands like the Deftones (although i think they themselves were influenced a lot by early emo), none of which were really influenced by grunge. These easiest way to describe it is: Music with shouting by men who wear eyeliner. I’d stick as a subform of rock at the moment, some of it overlaps into punk and some is more mainstream rock.

Nice to see a mention of the Wildhearts. I saw them last year in Seattle in a tiny venue, close enough to touch them and my ears were ringing for days afterwards. I thought they might see some proper chart success after the rise of boyband-pop-punkish-rock of Busted would open the whole genre up to good bands. Alas, for too many teenage girls have no taste in music and are more interested in spikey haircuts.

Slavelord:

With ‘emo’ being mainstream, I’ve noticed it’s doing the same as grunge did, it’s magnetically pulling all music that sound the same into the genre. Sure this song has screaming, but it is not emo (IMO), but the legendary Speed Metal :slight_smile:

If you watch Death Note, you would no it’s the theme song for the second season. Oh, and alot of it is in japanese, for those of you confused by the lyrics

They’re so short.

I remember seeing them play, classic line up, with Therapy? a few years ago, along with most of my band, most of anothe rband we knew, plus, infact, about half of the Macjhester rock scene. Very cool.

@Kera

I’m not ashamed to be a Cypress Hill fan. Not a fan of rap per se, but I got onto them through my liking Rage against the Machine, who have obviously been influenced by CH.

Pyro Stick:

How about a little Scottish Pirate Metal:

slev:

Even before you posted it I’d had that stuck in my head all day, as my g/f was humming it before she left for work this morning.
