[Archive] In other News (good, but not GW)

mattbird:

What about including the Hell Cannon so that we can also use it in the CD army. It's a redily avalible model...pretty much the only CD model in GW at this time, and saves us all from converting.

mattbird:

100 pages is quite a bit... I'm up to about 80 pages of decent stuff so far, though I've only got about 4 pages of model pics.  I would be very interested to see how you fill all those :)

You can do multiple quotes per reply btw, just copy and paste  ;)

But then I wouldn't be able to get my post count so high. ;)

The plan is to fill it out the same way other army books are, with all the stuff you'd expect, a time line, map, gallery, fluff, illustrations, etc. I think the list will get done first, then updated as other parts get done.

mattbird:

Was wondering if anyone tried to get in contact with gw about this...

krusty
They have no desire to revisit rules for any army that they do not produce models for, at the moment. A few years back I might have said "maybe", but these are different times, with different people in charge. The best you could hope for would be widespread acceptance of them on an Indy GT level.

Unless one is hoping that the new "secret army" for this summer is in fact Chaos Dwarfs, which would of course be awesome.

dedwrekka:

So when can we expect to see the first draft?

mattbird:

Next week. We had to take into account some GW IP issues, so that’s the hold up.

Tarrakk Blackhand:

GW IP issues are ALWAYS a problem!

Slacker:

I messaged Rob Kopp of the 'mongers and mentioned we were having a 3 round tourney on Long Island May 23rd…depending on how things shake out, I’d be willing to duff the tourney in order to beta the new list in a competitive setting. I’ve got four models painted, so I know I won’t walk home with the prize, but, eh, for the cause.

mattbird:

Hey all, quick update, the list will be released tomorrow! I will post a new announcement thread there.

Groznit Goregut:

Hey, I did hear something over on Da Warpath from someone who knows Kevin C. It might be mattbird for all I know, but here it is:

On the CD list: Kevin’s CD list has some interesting angles and approaches. No, it’s very much not steampunk. It’s much more chaos and demonic in flavor (without demons, though). The playtest release is tomorrow I think, so you can see then. I know what I like in his ideas but I don’t want to be a spoiler source. He’s very much interested in hearing playtest feedback. I think people will be pleased with the tone he strikes.

The main reason they stopped making CDs is because they broke the molds in an accident. It’s a very costly endeavor to make a whole new army from scratch, so they haven’t. I’d follow how GW is doing financially more than anything–CDs were first released when the company was doing very very well. Less so now.

mattbird:

noper. What’s the Warpath?

Groznit Goregut:

Da Warpath is the main OnG website.

Kera foehunter:

cool site !! and they have cool games!!!
