Hey guys, for those of you that have put together and painted an ID, how would you recommend assembly and painting? Its a big model and im afraid if i put it all together, then i won’t have access to all the parts from all the necessary angles to paint it properly

Thanks in advance

Look at this thread by "Grim…"

all I’ll say is too wash all the b#@88… bits before you put anything together.

Grimbold Blackhammer:

Put everything together except the wheels.  Paint the train’s body and wheels. Then glue the wheels onto the train. And paint the crew seperately of course.

Grims advice sonds reasonable, also I had the main body devided into two parts before painting: The frontpart with the boiler, cannon etc. and the back with the coal thingy.

So basically:

6 wheels

Boiler/cannon-part

back of main frame

3 crew

Thank you very much guys!!! I am just about to start washing the bits after i post this. I am going to wash and scrub with some dish soap… If this is not enough, let me know as i will check this thread before i start gluing

CopperPot:

Dish soap if thats washing up liquid then yeah, I use an old toothbrush to gently scrub the parts in warm water.
