2 bolt throwers (counting as only one special choice)
1 earthshaker
Now this guy has gone and made an army that will rely very heavy on characters. BIG MISTAKE.
What you should do is play a game of attrition. they are going to charge at you, make that your advantage. You will have only one or two turns of shooting and magic before combat takes place (unless you suceed in some very lucky earthshaker action) so take out that dragon or the Dragon ogres.
You only need to cause 2 wounds on each horseman unit to panic it and if they do make it into combat they will only have a maximum of 10 combat rating (if they wound with each person and horse) but thats highly unlikely, furthermore if you have a hoard of hobgoblins you will have at least 3 (rank bonus) + 1 (outnumber) + 1 (standard) so they have to kill 5 to break even.
USE LOTS OF HOBGOBLINS!!! LOTS!!! at least … 200 if not 400 in units of 40.
Banner of slavery
BSB within 12" of general to give everything the benifit of ld10 and rerolls on panic.
Now here is where you need to get sneaky… Dogs of War. Use a unit of Mengals Manflayers as scouts, so if you get the first turn you will either slow the dragon down to a walk (evil laugh) for being within 8" combind with an earthshaker and you may even get a rear charge on the lord, if you use a suitibly sized unit you may even stand a chance of beating him in combat if you do the smart thing of issueing a challenge .
Or you could equally just get a unit of DOW pikemen for those pesky Dragon Ogres
have 3 units of 25 CDs with hand weapon and sheild.
any left over points spend on characters perhaps 2 sorcerers (lv 1) with dispell scrolls
Well, its easy. Either BT him to death or lure into a big unit of warriors with an “easy” target (SL perhaps?) Then activate the Black Gem. Presto! he can’t attack you and you have +5 CR.
Earthshakers, bolt thrower x2, bait chargers to big “shock absorber” units, counter with CD warrior units. Focus on stymming his magic phase (chalice might actually he useful here). Rinse, lather, repeat as nessecary.
