just found it, CDO is on page 50
mattbird:
and page 5, the introduction page.
Willmark:
Maybe not directly. "Word of Hashut" is mentioned in the background section, which I found hilarious. How so?

I assume it’s just the phrase. I never miss an opportunity to throw that one in, personally.
Border Reiver:
I had a chance to go over it in more depth last night, and I have to say that the background section is extremely well done. The colour section brought forth copious drooling. I noticed some of the changes from the last playtest version and I really approve of the way taht you and Kevin took the army. My only beef at this moment is that page 47 failed to load (and obviously print). I’m presuming that this is the Molocharoar page - any chance of this being fixed?
mattbird:
It may just be your copy of the file? This is the only instance I had heard of it.
Ammrik Gunrock:
Just alittle background note (not important, but I thought I’d throw it out there since my main armies are Empire and CD’s)
There is no definitive evidence that Magnus the Pious fought, let alone killed, Asavar Kul. Its only a popular myth in the Empire that Magnus did it. The truth of the matter is that Asvar was most likely run down by one of the Knightly order that struck his Horde from the rear. Magnus got no where near Asavar during the fight (he was more of a general and leader of men then a fighter anyway)
Border Reiver:
It worked today - don’t know why. Maybe the sacrifices were more to the computer god’s liking today.

So, BoLS has an article on the Indy GT book today, and several of the comments are saying that the Obsidion Guard are undercosted/cheasy/beardy/ironbreakers with free fear and kb…
Now, as usual, I am leaning towards believing this is more armchair than tabletop generalship talking, but still…
So, people who have played games with this - how is this unit performing up?
mattbird:
They were not all that desired or effective in testing. Usually just avoided, as any Mv 3 infantry can be. There were loooong debates on them, and really nobody cared much for them compared to BCs, Daemoneaters, and bolt throwers. I suspect that if you fielded 3 big units of them, thay would make a very good core of an army, but a unit of 20 w/ command is 300 pts…
Border Reiver:
I liked them, even when they were overcosted and still do - I just need to convert a unit to look different enough from my warriors that it is readily apparent that these are the elites. The cost of these guys was a major source of debate amongst the playtesters (not nearly as much as say the Daemoneater, but I digress). In the end, the designers used the cost of an Ironbreaker and added a point or two to allow them to gain their special abilities.
While a solid elite unit, their low M value will mean that a lot of things will either avoid them or charge them to kill them before the KB comes into effect.
Kawazu:
Oh boy, that’s great! I just gave a quick look, but looks awesome!
Congrats to everybody involved

Obsidion Guard are undercosted/cheasy/beardy/ironbreakers with free fear and kb...Well, compared to Ironbreakers they appear to pay 1 point for Fear and Killing Blow, so, on the surface at least, this would appear to be justified :)

Page 9, it's the name given to an event where Hashut revealed his nature to the Chaos Dwarf Elders by possessing and speaking through one of them.Maybe not directly. "Word of Hashut" is mentioned in the background section, which I found hilarious. How so?

That’s what I thought you meant.

If FrozenDarkElf doesn’t object, when we do our next game we will make it a live battle report on RoW. He’s already asked I use the GT list.
Canix:
:)Lovely piece of work :hat Now if we can persuade the gaming luddites of blighty to run with this i may field a force from this masterpiece
Perturabo:
I read GW fluff of the duel between the twoYep. It appeared in WD. I don't remember when, though. I remember Magnus hacking off Kuls arm, and him just looking at it, unhooking a hand axe from his belt, and wading back in. Got to respect the bloke. :hat off
