Just a little FYI, my brother just got back from this event and per my request was talking with Steve about the Kdaai Destroyer specifically, and Chaos Dwarfs. He wanted it to be VERY clear that it is VERY WIP, and that a lot of elements shown on the WIP destroyer that was on display will very likely end up changed on the finished product, so for those of you that are very gutted, there is still hope!

Ok, so after the first negative impression is gone I will sit back and hope for a long time of further work on that model.
Point is that it has ANYTHING to do with the fluff. K’daai are supposed to be barely controlled fire daemons, the embodiment of rage right?
The small box at the bottom of the K’daai bestiary says something like: “They take the form of a flaming giant statue”.
This makes me think to something possessed by a daemon, not an exoskeleton containing it.
Also, as stated before the hind legs are hilariously small. The horns look more like scythes. And shall we start talking about the “helmet” or armor plating? The whole model looks like a Daemon with a bone illness of some sort.
Oh, and the teeth and tongue are out of place. Oh, and the Hooves mixed with his hands are (IMO) out of place and more Beastman like. Oh, and the model has Tomb Kings shields for shoulder pads. No seriously, was it really that difficult to copy that BLOODY FLAMING BULL ART ON TAMURKHAN that made everyone drool?

K'daai Destroyer :
K'daai Destroyers are massive constructs fashioned into the form of mighty warriors or iron beasts ,
such as gargantuan monstrous bulls and other nightmarish creations.
K'daai :
Half-daemon stuff and half-raging fire drawn from the magma of the
deep earth and birthed in the boiling blood of Hashut's burning
sacrifices , given form and contained within an armoured framework
of articulated iron and rune-stamped bronze.
So for me the WIP K'daai Destroyer is ok as half-daemon half-raging fire bound in a armoured framework of iron.
And i'm sure it will be more beter with the release.
I am quite torn in opinion regarding this model. As it sits in the current WIP phase, I don’t think I’m a fan. Not much of it really ties in with the aesthetic of the warhammer forge chaos dwarfs. It looks far more primal and truly “alive” than I thought it would (given the gorgeous art in monstrous arcanum and tamurkhan), resembling more of an ape in armour than what could essentially be thought of as an avatar of Hashut. The large horns and jaw-weapon don’t really seem to fit with the rest of the model either. It kind of seems like a mash-up of a lot of different concepts, some work for me and some don’t (input comment on the hind legs here).
The criticism aside it is a cool model, just not at all what I (or many of us) pictured in our heads. The shots by Vogon show the intricate detailing of the skin, and the immense shields on the forearm are interesting (and close to the monstrous arcanums art of the arm-blades Destroyer). I’m very interested to see what Mr Whitehead does in between the WIP phase and the final product. There is a lot of hype and expectation behind this model as we can all see by the posts, and it’s quite obvious Steve has the talent to deliver, but I guess the question remains will it live up to our lofty expectations? I hope so, as I for one have been waiting for this monster above all others in any of the new Warhammer Forge books and very much want to purchase one (but am not sure if I will if the end result is similar to the WIP Destroyer).
For me, it just looks too much like a physical creature. Like the Taurus, which is supposed to be a living, breathing animal (albeit of arcane provenance) - but the Destroyer is supposed to be something entirely eldritch, a creature of living flame battered into submission by dark magic. I’m not a huge fan of the art for it in Monstrous Arcanum, but it at least had the saving grace of looking entirely weird and alien. I don’t want it to have a recognisable face: it should be something spawned from the Realm of Chaos and, given it’s absurd stats and rules, it’s fitting that it should be a barely-coherent force of nature. Not an angry giant in a weird bondage outfit.
That, or it should be a biomechanical construct like the new Chaos Space Marine *Fiends. Put the Maulerfiend on a 100x150mm base and you have a fine interpretation of a K’daai Destroyer.
Did any of u noticed how warhammer forge spwans new mosnters, buth in resin and in paper? Like its some stupid D&D supplement which aim is to introduce new “whatever” to sell another book?
I begin to think that warhammer starts to loose its feel. Older models, if had ornaments, they were beliveable, even if slightly oversized, and not fiting armors, they were just fine, on fantasy side. Now “epic” seems to mean folded and twisted sprinkled with additions, there is some kind of a lack of cohesion.
And early WIP is not explanation why guy sculpts wheelchair demon.

Totally agree. I want the flaming bull on tamurkhan please!!!
The upper body is a great sculpt though, it’s just not what I envisaged.
If the sculptor really checks this forum, I would like to thank him for the work he’s done on the chaos dwarves.
Even if you don’t agree with all of the recent sculpts (as I myself do), it’s still nice to see that work on our range of small metal (or resin) puppets has not (again) been forgotten.
It should look like an explosion trapped in a suit of armour. Something physically impossible that is constantly on the brink of tearing itself apart. Not an entrant for the Realms of Chaos Paralympics.
I must admit, that I finally grew acustomed to the model and will definitely get one, when it’s released. (Also it might be the first FW-model I’ll truly convert)
