[Archive] K'daai models

aka_mythos:

mythos... what is that and where do I get one? (the giant mechanical man, not the stay puff one)

klemanius
What, you don't want Mr. Stay Puffed?- The "Mechanical man" is a toy released for the "Iron Man" movies... the character is Iron Monger, the villain from the first movie. They did a couple of versions of the figure... this is converted from one of the 7.5" tall versions. There was also a 4.5" tall one, tends to be too small... and a different 7.5" tall one where the pilot could be exposed by opening up the armor. You can find all three on ebay for ~$12-$15... sometimes less.

I think you are misreading that it shows .5 inches per unit so probably 2 inches high max.

Dear Forgeworld Team,

will there be any models for Kdaii’s or the Kdaii Destroyer (heard that they should be released within a year due to Monsterous Arcana), or do I have to do them myself?

Thanks

Andy

Forge World Hi Andreas,

The K’daai are indeed on our schedule (and will also be featured in Monstrous Arcana) but we haven’t started work on them yet.

so… we have to wait a year or two? :frowning:

does anyone know the size reference on this?

Time of Madness:

The one you just posted is the medium sized one, it fits on 40mm bases well. Works great as a fireborn. There is another fire elmental model for D&D that is bigger then that one 5". The larger one would work better for the destroyer.

zhatan87:

After getting a look on the D&D minis, here is the summary of what minis can be used to fit to a K’daai. Some may need to be painted… (to me, every but…)

Rockfire dreadnought (U)
Clay Golem (R)
Chain golem (U)
Earth Titan (U)
Large fire elemental (U)
Gorgon (R)
Huge fire elemental (U)
Magma hurler (R)
Elemental wall (U)
Loyal earth elemental (U)
Warforged Titan (R)
Fire elemental (R)
The best to me for fireborn is the rockfire dreadnought (after paint). Warforged titan could be nice for a destroyer with a giant warrior looking (but it says the mini is rare (R).
I don’t know sizes, so maybe some minis can be excluded of this list…

I think I need to finish this guy:

How about this?

New from Anima Tactics.

Vogon:

VERY nice!

Thanks for posting it.

Cheers

mmh zombie taurus… does anybody have a size reference for this thing? it could work well for a destroyer, if big enough (although i doubt it).

that said, it’s a bit to much VC for my personal taste.

Thommy H:

I think that’s a 28mm round base, so they’re about Flesh Hound size. Just right for a 2-Wound creature, really.

Wifstrand:

Does anyone know what the price is? Because that little baby looks mighty interesting…

I can't find a firm price on it, but other miniatures from that company on that same 32mm size base range from £17-£30... given that it isn't as tall or bulky looking as some of those pricier ones, I'd say £17-£20.

Thommy H:

Uh…not sure where you’ve got those numbers from. On their website, their 28mm models are almost all about $10. I make that £6.20. This model is available for advance order here for $14.99. So, like, £9.30.

Honestly it looks to me like one of their larger miniatures... maybe I'm wrong. The volume of the model, the sharpness of detail in relation to the model line implies to me this model is on the larger size relative to the models around the $14.99 price.

Thommy H:

Yeah, it’s not that big. Like I said, about Flesh Hound size, I reckon. I was suggesting it for Fireborn, not the Destroyer.

aka_mythos:

Yeah, it's not that big.

Thommy H
Anima Tactics biggest figures aren't that big either.

My apologies,I misread your previous comment about the price as being speculative rather than factual.

Thommy H:

I meant “that big” as in “as big as some other Anima Tactics figures”. Seriously though, I already posted the actual price so there’s no need to continue to speculate on how big and expensive it is. That’s clearly the same size base as the one used for their 30mm human figures given that it’s only a little bit more expensive so it should be about right for Fireborn.

dromar:

the greater fire elemental from D&D is quite huge:

9,5cm tall, 5 to 6cm large and it’s quite ship so it’s a very good fig for a k’daai destroyer
