TheHoodedMan:

Really unique and high level painting. I like the accents on every detail and the dedication you put in to make a real individual job from base to cap. Always a pleasure to look at.

Ravenswood:

And on the lower left side the Blood offering to Hashut?

Ravenswood
Ah! Now I know: You signed a contract with Hashut with your blood and exchanged your immortal soul for painting skills;).

Grimstonefire:

My only criticism of this model, perhaps more a personal preference, is that I would sharpen the points of the swords.

Loidrial:

Ok now i feel bad because i will never be able to come any close to anything liek this.

Amazing.

Also very important for me thing. My life changed a month ago Friday 13th of February. My 7.5 years work story as engineer-developer of balancing machines was end. For some time I will not search job as engineer, I want to try myself as freelance miniature painter.

Yodrin:

Stunning as usual!!!

Abecedar:

A Work of Art. I just love your painting.

Bloodbeard:

Great works as always. Best of luck finding a new job Ravenswood. You certainly have the skill level to get paid for painting miniatures. But I suppose you have to work on your speed in order to make a living from it!

sam585:

Goodluck with the freelance painting. I find that it is enough to make lunch money with, I average about $20.00 an hour. But it is difficult to just live off of. You gonna have to paint much faster than you do right now

20$ per hour of painting? It will be awesome if my works costs that price. But I'm still far not so good painter.

Hey folks, I got a parcel from ebay. So now I have enough sneaky gits to make minimal regiment! So the Year of the Hobgoblin will continue.

Skink:

But I'm still far not so good painter.

Ravenswood
...You are joking there, aren't you?

Skink
Nope, there is no joke. I think I am good painter as hobbyst, but not so good as pro painter. But I try to remote that difference and now I paint around 8 hours per day. But it is not the chaos dwarves :(

sam585:

I think you need to define what you mean as pro painter. To me at least, a pro painter should be able to paint fast, accurately, and most importantly paint anything no matter the style requested or colors. Additionally, you should go and see if you can paint at different levels. I find that the hardest, to restrict the level of detail I put on other miniatures, but that must be done a lot of the time or you get nothing done. Surprisingly too, when you do this you will think that the models look terrible, but the client will be drooling and thanking you for the hard work. You should do some experiments too, like copying someone else model paint style/scheme and see if you can match it up perfectly. This I find to be really difficult because you have to see the colors used, and then figure out the order in which they were used, and then what techniques they used. If you can do that, your pretty much a pro I think  Also, as of now, the level of your painting on figures is about $20 just for the painting, and not including bases, and assembly. It really is top of line painting for Chaos Dwarf models, and it increases the value of those figures something like 4.5 times.

Ravenswood:

Do you mean 20$ per hour or per miniature? It is too much if first and not enough if second

gIL^:

No $20 per mini. Studios work on a per mini basis not hours worked, Though you could be the exceptions, Who knows you won’t know till you try.

sam585:

Ravenswood
20 per miniture. Honestly with painting, assembly, priming, and basing it comes out closer to 30 a miniture. Always go by a per model basis.

Ravenswood:

Ah, understood. But I want to try be an another kind of pro painter. Not one who paint gaming armies for the table but one who paint for collectors and glass cabinets. It is much interesting for me cause it’s the way to improve my skills.

I agree with sam585 about painting levels and trying colors/schemes of another painter. But for me most valuable criteria of pro painter is stability. One who can do his work exactly as deal is better pro painter.

And looks who arrived

Many thanx to Fuggit Khan!
