Didn’t someone already write a letter once? I think was Hammerhand or someone.

the hellcannon is colectors only esp as in in the new HoC book…?? that is suprising
i think a letter from all of us from cdo would be good idea also
Thommy H:
“Collectors” is a totally arbitrary definition though. If you look on the website, the product also appears in the Rare choices category. It’s meaningless.
Viskar Zhragoth:
About the Hellcannon: Agreed, but here in the states (at least) they moved it to “Direct Only” which means a store can special order it for you but they make less money on it…Makes no sense to me since it is in the book, but, the warstore, my local area retailer, and one other store I tend to go to have all sold out, and the warstore does not carry it (hard to sell a fig at 20% off if you only get a 25% discount on it). I also noticed that it was gone from the maelstrom site in the uk. Buying it through GW of course won’t change it for customers, and it is in both sections, but as far as other sources …ie stores…it will/has become a much harder mini to find.
BOT: About the letter: I’m not sure if anyone has written a letter to Jervis inviting him to browse/join the site, and I’m sure that Willmark definitely tried to get Phil Kelly to check it out (I mean can anyone imagine Willmark not trying??). But Jervis stated that it is a new philosophy, and I thought maybe it was a time for a refresher…so I am thinking maybe one letter with all of our names on it…
And I wanted to open a discussion…I’m not even saying I’m doing this, It was just a thought, and hey, I’d like to see it…

Items for which there isn't much demand often get taken off shelves. You can still get it though, even if you have to direct order from GW. It's irrelevant to the discussion, but let's not all go mental saying "omg you can't even get the Hellcannon any more!" when it's a lot more readily available now that it has been for years - you couldn't even get the thing from GW before the new Warriors of Chaos came out.

Auretious Taak:
Tommy H has the right idea. You need to show that the models will sell. Personally that model mentioned that was unreleased is NOT a Chaos dwarf. It’s a crappy attempt to bastardised a Black Orc and a common Dwarf with the end result of bugger all detail a slightly shorter yet still oversized orc chopper with a pitifully small shield and a piece of dung pitiful chaos warrior helmet. Throw in a normal dwarf beard with no plats in sight (a common CD beard trait) and not even a slight mutation such as a tusk or cloven hoofs as the background states most CD’s have and we have a good reason why this model was NOT released in the first place. If a letter with all our names for THAT model is to be sent off, I won’t put my name on it.
However, those Chaos Dwarf Hellcannon Crew, if they were released as a Collectors item and at a viable and fair rate say $22 Aud for all 3 inb one blister pack like the Ork Goffik Rockers are priced for those 3, I’d buy 5 blisters outright and then realise I’d just spent 105 aussie bucks on 15 models. And yet I would not care as I’d have a strong base to convert the unit entirely different and would have the models that myself and so many others in no way at all related to this site have wanted to see released since the Hellcannon was first released. Infact I’d probably keep buying more of them to be honest when funds presented themselves.
I disagree with the comment about us as a whole being the last people to buy the army and any new models released at a later date, I for one don’t have an army and there are many posters here who don’t, and in either case you’d still end up buying at least some of the models to add to your existing army or to a Mordheim Warband et al. Saying we won’t go and buy a 3,000pt army outright has it’s merits because who in their right minds can ever afford that kind of army outright? Most collectors/players buy a 2,000 pt army over the course of a year sometimes two in either case especially once you no longer have parents who supply you with your hobby addiction and then only if your parents have a good income.
Writing a single letter on behalf of all CDO’ers and asking for some sort of Chaos dwarf Miniature to be available either the Classic Dwarf Lord (hey, not all of us have access to ebay you know and the second hand model market and even then there is only a finite amount available so don’t even try to counter this model suggestion by saying get it from ebay cause we all can already!) or the blister of the 3 Hellcannon Chaos dwarves which are a much more refreshing and more up to date and chaosy looking 3 CD’s then the previous army with the big noses and funny hats that less then half the gamers in the world like (because hey, if they liked them as a whole the army would never have gotten to the stage it is now - harsh but true), is a good idea. I’d sign on for either of the two options I have mentioned in this paragraph because they are good models either classic or new and both worthy of the collectors range and guaranteed off of that top miniatures list across the world or because of how many people want the hellcannon crew without buying the hellcannon itself. Which reminds me, ages ago you could get a unit of 10 of them, but then it was difficult to order stuff in unlike now where you walk into a GW store and can order direct from the store without using a credit card or anything as was the case onlya few short years ago.
Back to the first point on Our little community (It’s little deal with the fact) and providing a solid market base to present our case to GW.
Our forum as of 1/2 hour or so ago consists of 1,141 members. 1,141 guaranteed miniature blister packs sold is a good start but barely enough to justify releasing a blister pack to the worlds collectors edition model base. And this of course assumes that every single one of the 1,141 members registered to the board will actually go out and buy whatever model was released as a Chaos Dwarf Collectors Edition Model. The harsh reality here is that a good percentage won’t, we’d be lucky to get half of those numbers based purely off the people who have responded to anything in the past several months. If they were active then we’d know from login accounts et al, but most seem to lurk, and as a lurker on the Privateer Press forums with occasional bursts of posting most lurkers look in once in a blue moon. the point here is that we are very few in number across the grand scheme of things. Throw in the few people from Warseer wanting this to happen and you’re starting to geta few more numbers. If we want this to happen and a CD model or 3 to be released to the Collectors range then we’re gonna need at least 5-10,000 odd people backing it and stating “YES! We shall order that blister pack, perhaps even multiple times!” and even then those figures may not be enough.
Thoughts?

A more accurate indicator would probably be Felix's model sales for the CD Lord.

Weren't they supposed to be recasting the winning models from the 25th Anniversary vote off? What happened to that? The CD lord made quite an impact in many countries' charts, so if anything was added to the Collector's range, its probably that model.Considering that multiple people could very easily vote multiple times on those, and that the polls came out different all over, I doubted the claim to begin with.

We keep hearing from GW, over and over and over again (even when the older people leave) that they want to do the Chaos Dwarfs, but wont do it until they have time to scratch the whole range of models and rules. The most recent one confirming that they wont be bringing back big hats.In essence what we are battling for is rules, the thing that GW makes the least amount of money on. Their money is in the figures, one supports the other. That being said my contention has always been the same: the models already exist in the GW catalog, you just have to put them togetherGames Workshop won't release an army without a miniatures range to support it. There will never, ever, ever be new Chaos Dwarf rules without plastic kits and so on. If they ever do them again, it will be properly or not at all. As I've always said, the key, if you want to make this a crusade, is to demonstrate to GW that there is a market, and that a new version of Chaos Dwarfs will sell well enough to make the investment of resources worthwhile. Everything we're doing here is a step towards that, I believe.

If more CD armys contend tourderment (The big ones) then soon they'll have to except that CD have a large fanbase so the answer is lets go to a tourdermentSadly many tournaments in some countries (namely the US and a few in Great Briton) don't allow Chaos Dwarf armies as Chaos Dwarfs. Though they seem fine played as something else.

We have done great deeds in the past and we can do it again! I do like this idea, and if we spammed games wokshop we would make ourselves a name for them to remember. The problem is that they probably would hate us...Yeah....offensive measures dont work well in getting something from a company that can, and has, done without our supporting dollars for Chaos Dwarfs (actually all our buying the BfSP sets would just show up as "Wow, orcs and Dwarfs are really popular!).
Filipicusius
However there is no way that AoW is going to tell GW just what their sales are...Meh, While it would be a nice marker for how well chaos dwarfs would sell, it's a character model (and it aint incredibly cheap, though I'm not complaining), and so it would have superficially low numbers on sales. At least compared to if they dropped in a box of, say, Chaos Dwarf Warriors, which would sell a lot more and in multiples.

Border Reiver:
After a game at my local GW last night, I was talking with one of the staffers and from what his understanding is that a couple of lines will start to go the way of our beloved Dawi Zharr - the Ogre Kingdoms and the Tomb Kings.
The Armies will still be legal, but new army books and minis will not be forthcoming, and current minis may be “direct sales” only.
And the weakening global economy strikes again.
Willmark:
Until we see the full release this cycle for this edition it’s all speculation. Plus I’m guessing GW corporate isn’t kepping the staff at the stores up to day on such matters.
Godbob and his jolly rogers:
I don’t think a letter will help as they would just say ‘we are going to do them but not now’ so how’s about a letter saying if we could have the Hellcannon crew in blister then if each of us get at least 2 blisters then thats (now) 2,300 plus blisters well I don’t know if thats alot to GW but to me that considers them aleast thinking about it? :idea
